Am I mistaken, or........
Are Thursday's elections getting more air time than normal?
It seems to me that they are, so it'll interesting how many people (don't?) get off their ***** and head to the polling stations.
Turnout in locals, is normally about one in four at best, so will the figure this time be higher?
Of course in Wales and Scotland, they're electing their devolved assemblies, which should attract a few more to put their X on the ballot papers.
Which leader will be smiling the most come Friday morning? I'm not holding my breath that it'll be the MP for Holborn and St Pancras!
Spelly.
Reforms new policy certainly kicked up a storm. Greens up in arms, which is exactly what they wanted. A daft policy, but very clever.
Thursday's results will be very interesting. Amazing some of the numbers being thrown around. Labour could lose over 1800 seats according to 1 report.
Mind boggling number and shows how far they have fallen in a short period of time.
Hopefully the turnout will be higher, but if people are just voting on soundbites then that isn't helpful either.
People only seem to be interested in politics when the country is doing very well or very badly.

1) A report on the box today said it could be Labour's worst day ever on Thursday. If this transpires, will Starmer fall on his sword? I must confess that I won't lose any sleep if he does!
2) Earlier today, I was speaking to a local Labour activist I've known for years, and his prediction was "Around 34%." But personally, I would suggest that less than one in four of those who are entitled to vote, will actually do so!
3) Your comment reminds me of the time when Thatcher won an election here, based on what happened in and around Port Stanley!
Spelly.
So the polling stations have closed, and the counting begins eh?
Our results are due around 4.00am in the morning, but it was mentioned on the radio today, that some results won't be know until Saturday. But meantime, I'll throw these questions at you if I may.
1) It's been said all along, that there'll be no overall majority west of the Severn Bridge, so poss a Plaid / Green coalition there to form a government?
2) Will those north of the border who want break the Union secure a majority, and press for s second referendum?
3) Will my party soon be looking for a new leader?
I reckon it's a "yes" to all three!
Spelly.
Just one result so far from Scotland (Orkney) with the Lib Dem taking a huge 70% of the vote. Still awaiting anything from Wales, but the (so far) declarations in England, shows the predicted pounding for Labour, and the the continued rise of a certain party whose colour is light blue.
The Lib Dems are also doing well, and as I type this, they've have more English councillors elected overnight than have we.
Polanski's People will be smiling too, and have won the Hackney mayoral election
Kemi's Crew have fared poorly as well, albeit not as bad as us, and their current loss of seats stands at 189.
Labour retained the seat in my ward, but the adjacent one where my son lives, has gone to Reform.
Spelly.
Well mes amis, the people have spoken, and my party have taken a severe pounding!
As I bash this out, we've lost 857 seats in England, and in Wales for the first time since before David Attenborough was born, we are out of power.
North of Hadrian's Wall, the "Dis-unite the UK Party" are gonna have most seats at Holyrood, but look like falling short of an overall majority, so I would suggest a new referendum on independence is a long way off. As I've said many times, Wishaw, and Montrose, are just as British as are Widnes, and Monton!
It's time for the PM to fall on his sword!
Spelly.
Catherine West virtually saying "Resign or else!" to the PM, and..........
John Swinney looking for a second referendum on independence, so.......
Guess who I agree with!
Spelly.
@spelly Just who is Catherine West to call on Starmer to resign?
It's not the leader that we need to change, but the direction of this Government. It is not only Starmer making decisions, you need to look at the rest of the Cabinet to take responsibility.
Starmer is described as boring and lacking charisma. Well maybe that is what he is. It's no good trying to change him into something he isn't ever going to be, such as the over-rated spiv Farage, claiming to be a man of the people!
Maybe, those leading the Labour Party need to start listening to the people and deliver the change demanded by working people and not just talk about it.

It's been mentioned on radio, and TV since our hammering, with comments to the likes of "It wasn't an anti Labour vote, it was an anti Starmer vote!" And I tend to agree.
Had another in power party taken the stuffing we did on Thursday, I would politely suggest that Starmer would've been calling for that leader to go.
He is the PM, he is the leader of my party, and in my opinion, he should do the honourable thing, and fall on his sword!
Spelly.
So far ive seen about seven senior members of the Labour Party and cabinet being interviewed on TV, all saying how they "get it" and then spending the next 15 minutes proving that either they dont get it or dont care what voters think or want
Im more inclined to believe the latter because successive iterations of the uniparty have completely ignored what voters actually want and have ploughed on with their small, closed circle, clique, globalist ideologies while this country changes irreversibly beyond all recognition - for the worse

I'd say that the Ballot Box indicates that he is.

*Paulie - Did you vote Reform last week? Have you done so previously? Will you do so next time?
Spelly.
@spelly None of your business. That is between me and the Ballot Box.
Paulie xx
Wouldn't argue with that for a second! It is 101% your right to keep it to yourself where your X went. I was just curious, so I thought I'd ask, but I have no problem whatsoever with your answer!

Shed load of cameras and reporters parked across from the most famous front door in the land. Are they awaiting the inevitable?
Chris Mason, the Beeb's political editor, said of the PM last night, "------ his future is hanging by a thread."
The number of Labour MPs calling for him to go, has now passed the eighty mark.
It's the King's Speech tomorrow, outlining the government's plans, but how long will Starmer remain as head of it?
I reckon it's now a case of when, and not if, that Starmer will be vacating Downing Street.
