This country is f******, what a waste of everyone's time and money. The sooner this pleb disappears off the face of the Earth, the better.
It's absolutely stupid, but it was the same for Burnham not that long ago, along with the £5m for the Mayoral race.
This has to be the worst group of politicians collectively in my lifetime, and the last 10 years have had some candidates.
In terms of salary, politics isn't particularly lucrative. That's why most MPs are useless (they'd be doing something more rewarding if they were any good) and on the take. It is a doorway to corruption and what we've seen over the past decade and a half is that exploited to its maximum; they don't even bother hiding it these days.
I think decision-making needs uncoupling from party politics. How can you manage an economy long-term when political ideology means key strategies shift every 5 years? Like the BoE manage interest rates, I think we need a non-political body to manage the country's finance, like they would any other business. All we've been doing for a long time is applying a sticking plaster to this country's problems and giving people handouts to help them survive; it's pathetic. Our political system breeds short-term thinking which is why the country is stagnated, and probably will be for ever.
It's Reform's conference in Brum at present, and Farage's speech is tomorrow. Prediction...........
At the end, he'll receive a (stage managed) standing ovation, and then circulate amongst the party faithful, shaking hands with 'em, as will.......................

There's a bit on Wiki about her speech. It mentions it lasted 35 minutes, and was interrupted by Greenpeace protestors, but makes no mention either way of a standing ovation. So you could possibly be right!

It's good to see that they're now being outed as the grifters a lot of us have always known they are. Like Johnson, they'll join any bandwagon as long as there's personal gain in it.
I hope this starts to dissolve their appeal but, as said before, there is a rabid hardcore of supporters who likely don't care about stuff like this as long as they remain committed to shooting dinghies out of the water.
Also worth a periodic reminder that Farage (1) would have withdrawn support for Ukraine and practically invited Putin (whom he "admires") to waltz across Europe, and (2) would have had us bombing Iran for no reason during the summer, with his orange hero.
Bit late but good to see we have a government willing to call out the Israeli fascists. Using a term like "ethnic cleansing" is stark but warranted.
