KB on Viaplay suggested DB as new coach.
we must not go back down this route, in hindsight we had it ok with Denis in the end but a lot of apathy in the town is linked to him albeit right or wrong.
I liked Betts, but the problem with this club, in particular fans on here and social media, is that should any coach return then they will be met with a barrage of abuse and negativity. In truth, I pity anyone who comes here as a coach or board member as in recent years the levels of abuse have got worse.
Betts did alright in the face of a stiff task trying to keep us in SL with a diminishing playing budget. But he hardly set the whole alight at Newcastle and would be an unpopular appointment with many fans. Leave the past in the past and move on.
I'd agree with that. I don't think we should chase Denis. And if I was Denis and was offered it, I think I'd say "No".
No thanks. There was no relegation for the first few years and once relegation came in we were near the bottom most of the time. The rugby was dire and the only time it wasn't was when Brown was playing, we had no plan B.
Not gonna happen.Even if the club wanted him they probably couldn't afford him.Betts and Widnes wasn't a good fit the first time, nevermind again.

Never go back to a lit firework!
If Belshaw continues to get a result against Keighley I would give him the job to the end of the season if he wants it. If things continue to go well consider him alongside other applicants then.
Where has he come from does anyone know? Was he an assistant to Kear? Did Kear bring him along?
@geoffw This was written about him in 2019; Neil Belshaw, 32, played at under 21 and reserves level for Huddersfield Giants, Leigh Centurions and Rochdale Hornets, and made a conscious decision to stop playing at the age of 22 to move into a career in coaching. He started at Thatto Heath Crusaders in the junior section before spending five years at St Helens coaching in their academy and scholarship programme and three years at Widnes Vikings as under 19s assistant coach. He’s also been involved in coaching youth squads at Pilkington Recs and Leigh Centurions.
@viking25 Thanks very much for that. So was he at the club working with Kear or has he been drafted in do you know?
He was working with Kear I believe.
he seems a likeable bloke.
@widiot He did mention that he had a full time job as well, so he would presumably take the rest of the season as a part time coach?
The results of his efforts so far seem good and the team has responded! Depends what his full time job is I guess. If it's a well paid/pensionable post it would take a very persuasive offer to pass it up!
Difficult to judge from this distance but its hard to grasp what some coaches would see as a 'good set of conditions'.
@sandgroper One of the many deregotory comments on here following the Swinton defeat, was that we were now being coached by a PE teacher. I guess that may be his full time job.
I certainly never saw last night’s performance and result after recent results, but all credit to the coach and the players. Hopefully, we can repeat this form in the coming games.
@sandgroper I believe he's a PE teacher. There was a noticeable difference in style of play and attitude last night so fair play to him. First game I've enjoyed for a long time.
