@sandgroper It may be a question as to which players Leigh can afford to keep in SL and whether any other SL clubs can meet the players’ demands. Having said that, we would be delighted if Widnes was in the same position as Leigh.
I still think that it is not beyond the bounds of possibilities for Featherstone to spring a surprise if they meet Leigh in the final. Where would that leave Leigh and Beaumont’s commitment to the club?
I think it a bit unfair to say Johnson is a sick-note. Any player can sustain an injury, just look at Grady this year. That is why we need a bigger as well as a better squad in 2023. Maybe we can take on a couple of Leigh’s surplus overseas players!!
Didn’t the club say a few weeks back that Levy was in light training, but not mentioned since. Maybe he has played his last game, or rather not played his first and last game, for the club. It would be good if he could be given a run out in the game against Halifax, if only for the novelty value. He will probably go on a be outstanding for another club next year!!
As for Sunday’s game, at least you may see some open rugby and outstanding tries.
I googled the SL/Championship overseas quota rules and the response was that the rules are the same for both. So, how are they getting around it now? I do agree, looking at their squad on Wikipedia, they have an awful lot of overseas players. Are some from exempt/development countries?

I agree about the Fev bit mate, and I'm really looking forward to attending the MPG, when either Beaumont or Campbell, will be left counting the cost of another season with the likes of 'Fax, the Chemics (and hopefully the Lions) on the fixture list, and not Pies, Wire, Saints, et al.
Spelly.
The million pound game is a one off game and as London proved , it is not always the favourite who comes out on top.
While Leigh are obviously in the box seat, there are a couple of teams from the play off contenders who are capable of springing a surprise in a one off game.
On the quota front, Leigh currently carrying 14 quota / overseas players in their squad. Though it will never be the case that most Championship teams would be able afford squads like Leigh, it is not helping to progress young home grown players in the game.
I was amused to read an article from DB / Leigh ( I believe ) , regarding promotion , in which the gist was that Leigh and Featherstone should both be given automatic promotion as they have the finances to be competitive and Toulouse should keep their place and make SL a 14 team competition.
interesting comment about Leigh and fev going up as they have the finances to be competitive, but for how long?
but back to the thread, sorry but I cannot see us getting to within 25 points at Leigh, hopefully we can win the next 32and finish 7th
and then - the new season beckons !
and wire nearer the bottom of their league than us
@ditton-donkey
Tend to agree d-d, our remaining games are more about evaluating our present squad in the retention stakes.
Hopefully next year will start with a much more cohesive squad structure, probably a much stronger pack and a stronger emphasis on defence.
Regarding this year's playoffs, the refereeing problems could seriously have an effect on that with yellow cards waved like confetti!!!!
Even SL is an embarrassment with experienced refs watching slo mo's making some weird decisions at times.
Glad I am not going if we keep them under 50 it be a bonus. Only interest is to see who is worth retaining and releasing for next season. The aim should be top 4 next season, and hopefully new sponsors and investors. 👍🥖🥖
10 mins, Charley scores and it’s converted Leigh 6-0
10-0. Since that first try we have knocked on twice!! Can’t do it it’s suicide
Referee eventually penalises Ferguson for a shoulder charge but no card.
incredible how a shoulder charge to the head is just a penalty
14-0 another penalty on the forth tackle gives them more yards
18-0
Listening to Radio Manc ( no Merseyside) five drives and a kick, too many knock one and penalties, just men against boys. Expected it but expected more from us.
16-0
26-0
@martin It hasn’t just been 5 drives and kick, we’ve tried to play, on the odd occasion we’ve got the ball.
The players are clearly trying but it just isn't a level playing field. I don’t know what the Leigh players or fans get out of this debt week. Must be boring winning with no contest
