@jdgsport

If you take the 'supporter hype' out of it all the period of stability, not spending too much etc., boring though it may be, was probably essential for the new Board to get a grip of just where they were at.

I don't know if there was a spending clamp on after the administration period or just a self imposed one. Neither would surprise me.

The end of VIQI, as far as I can detect, may well have been just an admittance by its organisers that they have gone as far as they want to go. Maintaining a fund for that length of time is a massive effort and it will be forever in the Vikings history. Just why so many want to unearth a disagreement beats me tbh. There may have been a difference of opinion - so what!

Again the negative comment that 'many won't support the new set up' , but many including me will! Life goes on!!!!

People need to get off their high horses nobody has criticised the club for spending or not spending but the usual suspects love a dig at the non blinkered brigade, its the norm ion here now.

@cumbria-viking Presumably neither the clubs or player have confirmed the deal - until one of them does it continues to be a rumour....

If these so called deals are done then why have we employed JK it's his job to select players.

Any upping of spending on the team is needed if that means we can have a competitive Top 5/6 side.

I think the way the board have acted since they have took over suggests that they would not be reckless in overspending.

Have they got to the point where they have conserved funds a bit because it didn't matter as much this year: we are a million miles off Leigh and Featherstone at this point: but it does matter a lot more next year?

This year a write off, but we can get some wins and fans confidence in these average players. Next year go for it and I be joining the new scheme to raise extra funds for better players . 😛👍🥖🥖

Perhaps he has selected them, we don’t know what he’s been doing since he was announced as coach.

Jesus christ nowt like people jumping out their prams...the post is in no way critical of the board nor its spending ....it was a question as to how people thought on  the reported large hike in budget ....saying "not a pot to pee in" is the general view of the vast majority both our fans and others ..the report isn't one of a tiny increase its reportedly a substantial one hence asking where people thought the extra funding was from ...swear some people on here could have an argument with their own shadow...

If the Board has taken a long term view and has taken a limited/ measured approach to recruitment this year in order to make increased funding available for next season, then this is a reasonable, arguably responsible (if not popular) thing to do. This approach may be what persuaded JK to become our coach. I hope VIQI members will take the opportunity to support the new fans funding scheme. I will. This income stream has proved invaluable in the past and will do so in the future. A massive thankyou to Jason and Joanne for their efforts running VIQI in the past. Let's now get on board and support the new scheme in the future.

@cumbria-viking is that brad walker

That would be a great signing.He doesn't seem to feature that much at Wakefield.

Absolutely he played twice in the halves for them and nailed it Wakey's loss could be our gain the lad has bags of talent. We always said people where banging on about the wrong Walker when we had him and I stand by that.

From the reports when JK was signed he had already done a player by player analysis of our squad, so he had done an amount of looking at our needs overall. The Welsh squad are 'his', so no surprise that he has considered them already.

As a player on a full time contract Brad W is quite possibly already on wanted lists and would take a bit of persuasion to return to our squad, unless we are re-setting our player spine on a full time basis. Not sure how that would work unless the players do other jobs within the club. Betts seems to have plenty of ready money and Brad has already played there.

Walker certainly has quality and that's what we need to move on. There were other names mentioned among the rumours that were more 'championship' standard atm so no doubt JK will assess their future potential before signing.

One thing for sure, Yorkies don't like wasting money, but finding hidden gems to fit a team is clever coaching.

Yeah the talk was around ant walker not brad ...player kear obviously knows very well ..one or two in the Wales squad worth looking at ...dunno the situation with bennion..seems to have stagnated ..from looking a standout last time at Swinton in the championship..but must be a reason he's not been bagged from rochdale

I heard we have a new investor and heard that ISA, GILMORE, and JOHNSTONE, were all coming back for next season.

Without being negative, why are we not looking for new blood instead of bringing players back to the club who are either too old like ISA, or players like GILMORE and JOHNSTONE who, without being disrespectful, haven't really done that well since leaving three years ago, why do we never find 'gems' like other clubs do, Swinton do far more often than us.

I know ISA has had a decent career since he left us, but he's knocking on a bit, its a similar issue with AMOR. JOHNSTONE is 'ok' I guess but GILMORE will struggle without a big pack in front of him as he is an organiser, and we don't seem to recognise the fact that in the championship you need a big pack.

I am a season ticket holder, and again without being negative, I can see a restless crowd getting with the the board once again next season as FINNEY is getting players in that he likes and 'not' the players that would get us challenging at the top end of the table, getting smaller, older players who won't play a great amount of games due to injuries but on larger salaries will create division amongst the rest of the squad.
