Our CEO is a blagger and has kept a wage whilst hardworking people lost their jobs, the bloke has not a modicum of shame!

Out of interest what decisions has he made that have gone badly wrong? It seems a lot of criticism towards him is based on personal issues rather than strategic.

Might be quicker if you could list the decisions Mr Rules understudy has got right?

Gilmore will tear us a new one on Saturday.

That's the embarrassing thing, worrying about what Batley may do to us....

Whitehaven beat Newcastle today, the same Newcastle we failed to beat.

The more I think about it, the more I feel we are in trouble already

Words I never thought I'd read but it's a possibility. We can't blame Finnigan for this shambles, least not yet.You could put Mal Meninga in charge with Wayne Bennett as assistant and it wouldn't make a difference. Some players can't tackle, some are not interested and one or two don't even want to be here at all.Not a great combination.

Nothing to do with personal issues, he was a part of the old regime of charlatans! The slate should have been wiped clean, from top to bottom. People lost their jobs, through no fault of their own, yet Finney gets promoted to the role of CEO because of nothing else other than sentiment. Fair play to the lad getting paid to do a job that he’s totally unqualified for. Easy money if you can get it.

I think we need to look at the players first and foremost - and I agree the buck stops with the coach to motivate them as well as get them tactically prepared and all are failing currently.

The pack is way off, I worry about our right edge with Lawton defending (or not as the case may be) that leaves the centre and wing exposed time and time again.  4 tries were scored down that side against Newcastle and it happened again against Dewsbury.  Lawton/Smith is not a good combination for defence and if I were preparing a time to face Widnes, that's your weak spot.

We've got a 19 year old kid from Warrington who has hardly played first team rugby league showing up the likes of Matt Cook and Lee Jewitt who have plenty of SL games under their belt, this isn't right.  It isn't right that we're losing to Salford by 60 points, or losing to Dewsbury Rams at home.  We've been in freefall for  a few years now and it's hard to watch - from a full time SL team in the mix to make the play offs to a part time Championship club that has no academy and no long term plan to get back into the top division.

I appreciate the person responsible for this is no longer around, but we'd take defeat so much better if we have a team proud to wear the jersey.  Players should be privileged to play for Widnes, have a walk through the reception and look at the World Club Championship trophy in there to see why - we were told SF knew the club, the town and the expectations - get a team that's proud to work for the shirt asap because Saturday's performance just isn't good enough round here.

Someone mentioned it earlier in this (or another thread) that most if not all of these players signed thinking Tim Sheens would still be in charge this season, if this is the reason for that ‘performance’ on Saturday, I wouldn’t let them play for the club again. If you haven’t got personal pride in wearing the WIdnes shirt then  don’t bother, I think it is a blessing in disguise that there were no fans in the ground on Saturday, because that’s as bad as I’ve seen for many a year. Not one single player gave 100% and that is simply unforgivable.

On the flip side, I think many people would have walked out after an hour (at the latest!) so a pretty much empty stadium by full time might have sent the players the message that this just isn't good enough for this club.

It's up to the players - they're here for the year.  Play for the club or play for a move next year, either way you need to sweat blood for 2 points in rugby league.  Jack Owens has a big role this week as captain for players to understand what it means to play for this club, I agree about Smith being unfit and disappointing thus far but he must show leadership qualities with the experience he has.  Batley will be confident this weekend after watching that mess on Saturday.

Whats next then? How is it fixed? The players need to have a long hard look at themselves for me.

"I think we need to look at the players first and foremost"

I put this in my post above - so I've already answered that.

A lot of these players are not showing their true worth currently.  They start showing their true worth and they start getting the fans back onside.  No hiding place in rugby league.

If he's as out of shape as commented then he is showing 0 leadership already. They can talk all they want about lack of time together etc., but if you're getting paid (Full or part time) then you should be in shape to do your job.

That's just as bad as lack of effort on the pitch. 0 effort off the pitch to control weight. Not being able to give your best cos you're however many lb's/st overweight.

Smith is criminally out of shape. No excuse whatsoever for his condition.

This is spot on. I get the sense that a few of these players likes of Smith etc have the attitude of “what am I doing here”. Smith was lifting grand finals 4 years ago and now he’s at part time Widnes. Ultimately, the reason why the defending is gash is simply because the players are not taking pride in their defending.

The worrying thing about this current squad is are they capable of reacting to that unforgivable performance.last Saturday.

Batley is a tough place to go at the best of times .

Over to you Simon.

Don’t get me wrong I agree with a lot that’s been said on here after Sunday’s embarrassing defeat. But I think we are getting to far ahead of ourselves by calling for finnigans head already don’t get me wrong I don’t think finnigan would of been my first choice as coach but hopefully I’ll be proved wrong. I just think thow the way the players have come back well overweight and look so far out of shape doesn’t do finnigan any favours.
