@cumbria-viking

well I think it depends on the last signing or possibly 2 - if Romeo is signed he could be fb as well, also Fleming did well there too

the backs are difficult to forecast the first selection, the only ones we really have are ince and butt/ sumner on the wings and edge in one centre spot

half backs assume Gilmore and Patton with joey as back up

then pick the others from Jack, Fleming, Romeo and maybe brown

forwards is a real selection headache - which is great

@berkeleyviking that's the absolute beauty of running with your own squad from the start ..a bigger squad..although it was successful for large parts running with a smaller squad has its perils ..in some positions there was literally no competition for places and once injuries kicked in we were far too reliant on dual reg .. ATM the squad is looking pretty strong with competition all over the pitch ..great options that hopefully brings out an extra 10% out of players because now they'll genuinely feel that if they don't perform their place is at risk...great position to be in....if there's only one more coming in then surely thats a centre ..thats about the only place weve not got heavy options in ...I'm assuming that'll be Romeo if reports are true ..there's a few up here that think he's actually gone to Workington with nearly a dozen others from Whitehaven...no substance just talk ...

I have heard that Jack may well be an option for one of the centre positions.

I suspect that JO will be an option fpr one of the centre positions when we have signed a full back (Romeo ???)

Well he is always part of the wide moves anyway.

Our latest & possibly last signing made.Adam Jones released by Wigan on a 1 year deal. Seems he has had a bad knee injury since 2023 but now fit again. Our site says outside back but Wigan site says centre wing or half back. Looks like Maizen & Romeo not coming & possibly why we have signed a similar player in Cameron Jones from Cornwall. I make that 26 signed now the number mentioned at the club meeting.

The squad looks a bit stronger than last year but not convinced we can improve on last season's 5th place. What do others think?

AC will know Jones from his time at Leigh East, really good and surprising signing.

Cameron Jones? I think you mean Cameron Brown? I was hoping for an established centre like Romeo, but I never seen this Wigan lad Adam Jones to comment. Probably best to ask a Wigan fan who watches the reserves.

I am confident 3rd or 4th position.

Overall I'm fairly happy with the new signings, but I'd like to see another prop as they pick the most knocks. I'd also like to see more of Jack in the centres rather than at fullback.

Jones must be one of the project signings that was mentioned. At the time of the Monday meeting we still had 2 contract offers on the table, I wonder if one was Brown as rumours of his signing only arrived late and Allan said we beat a number of clubs to his signature.

My guess is we have 1 more signing to announce, giving us 27 players.  2 up from last seasons 25 including Murray who arrived after the start.
