It's funny how people were saying you can't read anything into friendlies, this proves you can, we were rubbish in the friendlies and we were rubbish today. Our halves are not good enough together as a pair,  the fans knew this but the club apparently not.

This team got physically beaten by Warrington’s kids last week- it’s no shock we got physically beat by established players this week.

Having a centre, Roberts and a second row, Whitehead as props in the first competitive game of the season is a disgrace. Prop forward has been our problem since dropping to the Championship and it still hasn’t been addressed. An utter, utter disgrace

Cornwall is a beautiful county, let's hope we get a summer fixture and make a nice weekend out of it.

Even if you you could polish a turd, all you would have is a shiny turd.

No one said it was a good idea to play a centre at prop, there was a discussion about rotating centres from the bench which isn't the same thing at all.

How did we end up having to play Roberts at prop? How are we scrambling around or experimenting in our first game of the season? We know Reilly is injured and possibly Sam Brooks but what about Tilleke or Wilson?

Listened on Merseyside until I lost it on 70th minute. Can’t say how many times the commentators said “and Widnes meat surely score here” for us then not to!

Sounded to me like we dominated the game only to fail to put the ball down over the line, which seemed due to our lack of size.

Can’t dress this up though, it’s a shocking loss.

@halfback-ragnarsson sadly shows the level Will is at where a centre gets picked ahead of him. It’s a shame the passion he gives when he plays is immense and something are current players really miss

I agree JohnG, in my humble opinion we have spent years disorganised on the field and with little competition for places, even before we start to think about how good players are. We just winged it from week to week, and got caught out when we faced well drilled sides. Whatever our opinions you would hope that this season would be better.

We have had weeks to prepare, doesn't look like we used that time well.

Allow me to gloat please!

Our defence was awesome, making it a less than happy return to Heywood Road for Messrs Coleman, Butt, Lloyd, and Gregson!

You were beaten by a better side, despite winning the penalty count 12-6, and huge credit to Alan Kilshaw for firing our guys up!

You had nobody to match Patton's quality!

It's not often we beat you, but that's two on the spin for us now!

Tell me I've said a single word that's not true!

Credit where it's due, John. Your 2nd half performance playing into the wind was exceptional.

Jayden Hatton & Rhys Williams gave you a strong left edge, your pack were too big for us, and the 9 was a 'busy grub' all afternoon.

How Ryan Ince was left out for Butt can only mean that the Coach (ha ha) will always pick his ex-Swinton mates to the detriment of the team.

Well done.

Paulie xx
