The rumour mill

Considering that Chris Hamilton said there would be no cuts to the playing budget, I'm hoping most of the names on this thread are rumours and not actual targets.

@widnes77

That could be a possibility with enough good developable 'lower league' players to fill the gaps.

Who would be your ideal targets?

@gpo1971

It all depends on who is actually leaving.

@gpo1971 as Sunny says, till we know who is leaving, its impossible to say who I, or anyone, would like to see signed.

The point I was trying to make is that the vast majority of players on this particular rumour thread are inferior to the players we currently have. I would also say that if the vast majority of players on this rumour thread were to be signed, it would be for financial reasons rather than rugby reasons.

Just my opinion of course.

@sandgroper it could be SG, or it could be we give up with on the pitch matters and just strive to meet IMG criteria?

Realistically, we've strung a few games together and found ourselves in a play-off spot. But prior to that, these players who are (probably) leaving were routinely slagged off on here as not good enough. So it shouldn't really matter should it? May as well have a change and see how that works.

Which is what I suspect we'll be doing until a benefactor walks through the door (if ever); swapping one set of players for another every couple of years in the hope of hitting a winning formula. Might work, probably won't.

Yep,it's all well and good saying this squad are in contention for the play offs but in reality that is sixth place in the second division.Hardly something to boast about. And the winning run only came about because the players were forced into a response after getting their coach sacked.Previous to that a relegation battle was looming.

And when all is said and done the truth is that the sport, our sport, that rebelled  and set itself as 'the worker's  sport' has returned to being the sport of any wealthy individual who can rent or buy a club!

What really hurts is that without a sugar daddy no club (to date at any rate) has got to SL.

Maybe it needs a shake up with good part timers, supported by a community, proving that they are as good as full timers?

Heard from a reliable source that Ted and Jay have signed back for next season, along with Mike Butt and Rhodri Lloyd of Swinton; a full back from Crusaders (?); and Danny Langtree and Sam Brooks of Barrow.

Craven, Lawton, Brown, Davies and Farnworth have signed elsewhere.

You fill me with excitement for next season with all the bottom clubs players signing for Widnes. This is not progression and I won't buy a season ticket if this is our intent. Craven and Lawton are the only ones disappointed to leave, but even Lawton said moving for more money and sorting his family out. Craven might not play many games next year so might not be a bad move. Chapelhows are at a club who are getting relegated and I never rated them before. 🙈

Any chance you can tell us who will be playing loads of games next season, and when they will be getting injured etc. You appear to have a crystal ball Pascal

It doesn't take a crystal ball to predict Craven missing games through injury.

Hardly Rocket Science and would you bet your house that he would play over 80% of games next year.?😂 Just hope the lad stays fit for the last 3 games. Lyons I know not as good but at least a durable player.
