Else and Lyons were the halves. Both had decent games, Lyons was very lively.

Nice touch at the end of the game.

Widnes players formed as guard of honour for Paul Clough and Matt Cook to applaud them off the pitch.

Swinton coaching staff told Paul and Matt to stay on the touchline while the Swinton players also lines up in the guard of honour.

During a game, everything goes, when the final whistle blows, there is deep respect for every player who steps up to play one of the hardest games.

Paul, Matt enjoy your retirement from playing, but don't get lost to the game, your experience, your knowledge and your advice could inspire the next GB lions Captain

I think it was a bit of an odd day today, understandably so with the news of this morning.

judging by SF comments there were a couple of players who felt they couldn’t play (Craven and Farnworth presumably) but the ones who did did themselves proud. A couple during the minutes silence looked clearly shaken.

great following from Widnes (500 or so, I believe the Swinton coach joked they might be able to sign a couple of players as a result!)

good club Swinton, hope they come back up next year. Cracking pub outside the ground and friendly locals.

Lyons looks lively but lacks an end product. New half back for Pascal next year. 👍

The pub is called the Little B.

Way way back I shared a flat in Sale Moor and the Little B was my local. Before today's game I called in, commented to the barman that the pub used to be my local but it had changed since I last went in.

"When was that", he asked, "I've been here for some years but don't remember you"

"Between 1962 and 1964" I replied.

Silence from him, then he walked away.
