Reality check and shows recruitment was poor at the start of the season. Passion and good coaching can get you so far,  but some of these players are just not good enough. Need some size in the forwards next year for sure. Any from Leigh available for part time and we need to spend on quality. 🥖🥖🥖

Hopefully next year will see us with a forward who prevents us from being bullied by teams like Sheffield as we saw today! We can’t expect the ref and his guide dogs to protect us from all those high shots and we need a ‘nasty’ forward to give a bit out now and again!

A couple of big nasty prop forwards would be nice. Definitely need big forwards like Leigh.

Big forwards like Walker and Amor will help but improvement across the squad is needed, we will need to know what’s happening with current players next season before we know who to recruit or we may miss out on better players

We looked like a tired team today. Our pack wasn't big enough to compete with their's. Played so well v Fev at home but were clear 2nd best today. Anyone know why Lewis Roberts wasn't playing? ⚪️🏁⚫️

Agree with than analysis

Sheffield played some good rugby as well as having some big forwards

I disagree, Steve, I believe we do have the right to expect the Referee and TJs to protect us from those high shots, and the off sides, and the forward passes, and the play-acting....

One thing we really do need to learn is how to play the match officials - we know how to play rugby but not the officials!

Watched a highlights package Sheffield put together on their YouTube…

A quite disgraceful decision from the touch judge to award Ben Jones Bishop’s try. Both feet clearly in touch and was clear to see live and via the footage. Just not good enough.

Couldn’t quite see that at the game yesterday V25 but Tyrer was going apoplectic with ref and TJ so I thought there must be a case.

This is the problem with these standards of officials. TJ’s IMHO never pick up crunchie. Mostly waste of space. End of.

But this young kid (that’s what he is) hasn’t a clue with half the rules never mind crucial decisions. He had the flurry of cards when we played Barrow at the Bash and he was equally if not poorer yesterday.

Glad there wasn’t anything riding on the game yesterday as he ballsed it up big style.

So frustrating

Apparently the ref was 21/22.

One of the youngest on the pitch....that's not an ideal situation for RL, yes poor decisions were made, but maybe RL needs to look at how it is getting refs in and how they are being trained.

Looking back a day on, their subs made a difference compared to ours....maybe an area to look at too.

What does 21/22 actually mean? It surely can't mean that out of a possible 22 marks he was given 21 by the RFL - i.e. an almost perfect game? He and the TJs were poor, not perfect. BrenJM's photo, for instance, showed that try should never have been given. Baker should not have been yellow carded. The list goes on...

As a sweeping statement, the general standard of the officials this season has been too low for a professional sport. The players and spectators deserve better.

Lawton was missed.

Does 21/22 not mean his age roughly??

@brenjm

Surely worth a request for a comment from the RFL.

TBH there was a RFL rep sat behind us in the north stand and it certainly looked like the ref was being 'guided' by radio on occasions. I thought that Baker's crash tackle was spot on for timing, feet on the floor, ball in hand! There was again the scheme where the doc rushes on to stop the game.

We may not be 'savvy' to some tricks but is that what we want to watch?

Very poor fare for the spectator tbh. But the TJ on the northside in the second half had his fingers splayed out counting the tackles one by one!!!!

We were not at our best but even the players must get to a point where they realise that they aren't going to get a fair deal.
