Any news on Gilmore and Owens staying beyond end of this season?

From what I hear neither of them will be staying and their replacements will be coming from Midlands Hurricanes and Rochdale Hornets. All hear say, of course.

Jack Hansen is one half incoming ....already done .got that off extremely good source ...believe Dan nixon is also most likely as butts replacement

Hopefully to replace Lyons. Gilmore has to stay and even though i like Richardson and Gilmore together, i just feel Richardson wants Super League. Jack Owens i have liked in the centre and not a fullback or halfback so I kind of see him gping if find 2 more centres younger. I think Taylor looks a good prospect.

@pascal no idea in what context he's coming in just got told he is ...always really liked Hansen..he's been a thorn in our side numerous times in the past and think he'd really compliment Gilmore and hopefully not be replacing him ....very unlikely we'd afford Richardson permanently and like you say think he's eyeing something bigger

Saw him play Saturday night ...was very impressive....Dan nixon very quiet didn't really show anything...think he actually went off ....had a prop called Chris Barrett that was by a mile the best prop on pitch ...really powerful ball carrier.. physically battered bullock walker etc

So much for a team of Widnes lads, would be thin on the ground if we lose those two.

The problem with rumours we do not see both sides to the story, and at the end of the day we are hardly a club flushed with rich owners. They are fans on the board that saved the club, but we all know how things can change if have an owner like Leigh or Wakefield. Twinny I do feel should come on the board in some capacity, but he is sporadic and his money would not change our fortunes like Degsy at Leigh. Personally I would look at signing Lawton, Owens and Gilmore for 2 years at a cheaper rate. What is to say we are not in negotiations but the Agents expect too much for that player? We are building a great team at this level and will need young players like Sergent, Taylor and the other U19s players coming through.  The interview with Alan Coleman he mentioned if listen that these rumours do not help.

Owens and Gilmore have earned a new contract , as has lawton

paper story this morning says Richardson still wants SL rugby - that won’t be us

i would imagine if broncos don’t get pushed up they will keep the same team due to the 2 year contact exemption - so expect a similar season next year

but there is hope - there is a new tv contact with more money ( o crunchie of course that will go to S L teams !)

we will be same again next year I am afraid and crowd drops to 1500

the RFL need shooting

It does feel like an orchestrated decline of the championship by the RFL. I don’t have a problem with the lower salary cap coming in next season but it has to be adhered to in order for it to work in the way it is supposed to.

like a lot of people I too want to see the club represented by a core group of widnes lads who play their hearts out for the badge, we need to look at investing more into our youth system. Maybe an u16’s and u19’s along with the women’s and an u19’s girls team

The Academy is great in theory, the theory being that it could produce both players that end up in our team and end up being sold to SL teams. The reality is the better players will go to SL clubs without us receiving much in the way of recompense. The days of meaningful transfer fees are over. How much did we receive in transfer fees for the numerous Widnes-born players currently plying their trade in SL? The Academy has to be successful financially otherwise it's another overhead we can't afford.

Re Owens and Gilmore, they've both done enough this year for extended contracts.

Owens and Gilmore add Lawton and Ince have been core players for a number of years in a Widnes side that has achieved ...................what?

.............is it just me or is anybody else fed up with watching the same play patterns ,often littered with the repeat errors, from these 4 ?

Time for a change..................

Surely the point of an academy is to generate players to play for the club. If not, you're just signing riff raff from wherever you can find?
