Oldham game

For me, the most crucial incident was when we were ahead and Ince couldn't get in, in the SE corner. That gets scored and they'd gone. It was similar to London at home. When we threw the ball around, off the cuff, we scored for fun. when we were structured, they had no trouble defending their territory. I thought that Foz, having to do the 80mins, hampered his game. I thought McWhirter made a big difference when he came on. Anyway, there's always next year.

Big shout out to the 4 Lads who are leaving, especially 'The Captain' and Butty. All good things come to an end, I suppose.

UP THE CHEMICAL VIKINGS!

I watched on the stream yesterday because could not go the game. Watching Widnes this year has been pretty enjoyable and once London gone and a fully part time league, then it will help us to be successful. Drinkwater will be a massive miss for Oldham. Most of our squad is retained and if Edge stays fit next year and a running halfback in Hansen will make a difference. I have liked Connell but i have a feeling Bryson will be a even better player. Zac Bennett stepping up and just need a centre or 2 and another prop. Then be another good season in 2027.

It be interesting with Doncaster losing a few key players and Newcastle going back to part time without York reserves. Hopefully a better and more fair fixture lists too. Lets keep looking for investors and make this club great again.

On the game more composure and less mistakes, then we would have won.Playing off the cuff i think we are a great team to watch

agree with you there - we need another centre and a prop really though

with regard to the championship structure - who knows, there are so many unknowns, NWC,Fev,Newcastle - will they be there ?
salary cap will be a farce as they have said that anyone on the second year of a 2 year contract will be ok - so PNG reserves and probably Donny will be fine, I reckon Oldham will suffer the biggest as their cap surely will be minute given their crap crowds

i applaud our club by stating they will be staying within our own means

it may take another year yet before it all shakes out

but we will be there !

Really frustrating that Ryan Ince knock on decision.

The things that happen after it are all avoidable and aren’t an excuse but just knowing if that stupid decision doesn’t go against us we’ve got the ball in hand with like 2.5 mins left

Yeah it will be interesting and Drinkwater a quality player and they wont replace with same standard. I am quite positive with our squad as I said previously just 2 centres and another big prop. Wings will be Sergent, Ince and Nixon. Just 2 centres and a prop mate. I am staying positive and if we can get a few more WVIPs members even for £5 a month, then it will help come mid season for further strengthening.

@scouseviking55 more frustrating for me was at the resulting scrum the referee awarded the only offside penalty in the game (I think).

You can’t pick and choose offside penalties- penalise the lot of them, or none. You can’t decide to penalise it with 4 minutes left.

@scouseviking55 also the drinkwater drop goal hit his own player

isnt that accidentally offside and a penalty? Which we kick to touch and try for a drop goal

whereas ref just played on !!!
not that it matters now

@vikingfox71 Also at Drinkwater's kick off after Richardson's kick off out on the full their winger was off side in front of the kicker.  Drinkwater was the difference overall for me. That last kick must have had back spin on it the way it reacted.

I enjoyed the game despite the result & most of the season. Onto next year. Jack & Connell will be hard to replace. Agree at least 1 more prop & 2 centres needed.

Well that was a game swerved. London 40-0 up v. Oldham after 27 minutes.

This just emphasises what an absolute shambles the RFL have created as a competition in 2026.

Doncaster might as well forfeit the GF next week.

74 - 8 full time, they better not be in the Championship next season. Added King and Philbin as well for 2027 that will be playing in Saturdays GF.

Everybody knew it would come to this, the only different parameter was who they played in the final at their gaff

fair play to Donny to get there - let’s see if PNG reseves actually announce their crowd !

hopefully they go up and get out of our hair

also we’ll done to wakey !

Obviously last weeks game against us took it out of Oldham 😁

I wonder if Doncaster can do any better than their 50 point loss there last month.

It was an accidental offside but you don't get a penalty for that - referee acknowledged it by waving six again and letting Widnes play advantage, rather than awarding the scrum.
