Marwan

Very surprised to read that Marwan Koukash has been declared bankrupt. Not too long ago he might have been a part of our club’s future. I certainly assumed he had almost bottomless wealth given his investment in Salford, horse racing and the potential for a Liverpool RLFC in the future which now seems dead in the water.

Good job he didn't come to Widnes now. Some luck for a change. 🥖🥖👍

I’m not even slightly surprised. I also seem to remember getting a good slating when I suggested he would be a potential disaster if he took us over. Anyway as a club we should be grateful for him auctioning off positions to help us out after admin.

Yes he helped us during admin but he also helped put on downward spiral in RL when he got his own way with the second marquee signing making a mockery of the salary cap and widening the gap between the top 4 clubs and the rest.

This is a warning for those clubs reliant on a benefactor to keep the club afloat; and the reason why the owners of those same clubs are desperate to get there hands on most of the central funding.

I would hope that when IMG are looking at their criteria, they take into account long term planning for a financially sustainable Club, and not just reliance on on SL funding and possibly short-term funding from a local benefactor.

Totally agree, we should be thankful for the support he gave to the Club when we needed it.

Changed my mind very quickly about MK, when after a visit to Leggies, he described the Wine as akin to horse pish.

Some people eh

Aye,bad manners that was.An insult.Just because he was accustomed to expensive, vintage wine. Never insult your hosts and never be ungrateful for a warm welcome. Most decent people know that.

It further reinforces that there is no money to be made in RL. If there is a sugar daddy out there for us, it will need to be a local maniac like one of us who has won the Euro Millions. No-one will walk in with outside interests to try and get SL and make some money. Pointless. So, get used to our financial model.
