Aww that’s a shame. Thought he was really good! Really added some dynamic running to us
Very disappointing. We will miss his speed badly. Club says hoping to replace him but is that in addition to Houghton prop just signed or is he the replacement to keep the squad at the announced 26. Hopefully we have the money for a full back. However have the Wire or Salford lads ever played there or could be converted? Both said to be speedy? Has anyone any knowledge or views about those two?
The only back we have with the real turn of pace needed to trouble opposition defences. This is a blow. I guess this is why we had a look at Dufty but his wages were always going to be out of our league.
Back to pretty much the same backline that create next to nothing and as slow as lame horses.... yippee
I'm sorry but this is piss poor by the club. There's virtually no they are going to replace him at this late stage. Abdul will be next.
Its disappointing but if a player wants to leave the club don’t have much of a choice and if they tried to keep him then he wouldn’t be a good fit in the squad
All about the timing .....know your about to announce a key player leaving ...butter the mugs up with a player announcement the day before .....but hey there's a real buzz and confidence at the club ... literally nothing to buzz about apart from a new season upon us ...and after a few weeks that'll be smashed out of us ...
@wrlfcefc1989 not piss poor
heard from Senior members of the widnes management they have bent over backwards to keep him
job working with schools offering him the number 1 jersey etc
sll seemed sorted he said was staying then he came out and said I’m still going Back to Oz
Decided no point keeping someone who wants out
there is a plan in place for Coleman to replace him and there are 2 names being looked at
if one of those comes off it seems we will be more than happy
The timing is very poor indeed. In fact it couldnt be worse. Right after a full pre-season and less than 2 weeks before our 1st game against the best team in the league. If he would have gone in November we could have got someone else in. 6 weeks or so into the season and SL squad players start to become available but at this stage very few players of any quality available.
The part time Aussie signings just dont seem to work. Last sesson we had the same with Brown and before that it was Evans.
It will remain piss poor until they come.up with an alternative. If they don't, all you have said is hogwash and means very little. The senior members of Colemans cronies club are bound to put a few rumours out there to make it seem like they have tried everything to keep him.
At the end of the day the back stops with the coach, if we don't get in the play offs with more or less the same misfiring, injury prone players, he has to go, no matter how often he applauds the crowd.
This sort of stuff really boils my piss. I don’t really see other clubs bending over backwards and allowing players to fudge off?
Can the club ‘mutually agree’ to refund my season ticket on the premise I bought it to watch signed contracted players actually bloody play for us???
Grrrrrrr
All that effort to sign him, bring him over, sort a VISA etc and he only ended up playing 9 games. I assume he was paid over the off season so I wonder how much those 9 games ended up costing us?
We need one of Connell or Sergent to come good for us, both not really tested at Championship level so who knows. All 3 backs last year (Sumner, Johnson and Brown) ended up leaving without playing a competitive game so we need to buck that trend.
Other than those 2 lads potentially coming good the back line currently lacks 2 things, pace and try scoring ability. We have also signed too many league 1 players for my liking, its a big jump in quality to the Championship, hence the RFL seeding this years fixtures. Bit of a moan but most of the above is factual.
It's a blow but not the gnashing of teeth that's going on here. The potential of Maizen has always outweighed the performances, there's a good player there but we didn't see that much of it.
Also, if a player is prepared to put himself front-and-centre of the kit launch but then a couple of weeks later decides he's off back to Oz on the eve of the season, not sure why that's Coleman's fault. I'm not an AC fanboy by any stretch but there's not much he can do with that one. Apart from look for a replacement which I guess (hope) the club are.
