Great news that he's signed a two year extension...good business from the club tying down the clubs best young player by a mile ... And although contracts mean very little nowadays and doesn't really stop a SL club from pouncing for him ..it does put the club in a position to demand a fee

Yes he’s playing well and at 20 can only improve. I’m sure there’ll be a super league clause but will prevent another championship club taking him for free

If anyone thinks there will be a transfer fee if he moves to a SL club then I have a bridge to sell.

@mckviking even if there is a clause the club can easily have inserted that they'll agree to his release to SL providing a fee of x..y..z is met ...or you'd hope they would because he's absolutely going to go back it's just a case of when

Well deserved, and appreciated. He's been great this season. Good work young man!

@sinbad It makes total sense for a fee to be involved if a SL club comes in for him. I know what you are saying in that players are always walking out on contracts. But the club is a business and Connell is its best asset, so I would hope they have inserted a minimum fee in the contract if a SL club comes calling.

@sinbad knowing us there probably isn't but they are quite common place especially with highly rated young  players ....was only couple years ago Bradford dug their heels in with Wigan over ebon scurr...he had a SL clause and they had an amount that had to be met (40k) for them to let him go ...Wigan didn't pay it because of cap constraints and he ultimately stayed at Bradford... depends on how much a club is savvy and plays hard ball

@cumbria-viking well with our recent history of rolling over (when releasing players) we’ll probs pay the SL club a fee!!!
