@vikingfox71 none of us are privy to what has gone on and nor should we be if it’s private.

@begg be terrible if that was the case and Alan is actually protecting him. What would all the angry folk say about his man management then 😶‍🌫️

none of those coaches have done anything of note either, the only one is James Ford but he didn’t do great with Fev. Andrew Henderson who did well with London struggled and left York after a short period too. Just because a coach works well at one club doesn’t always mean success at another

Yeah and the reason I am thinking not worth changing coaches. But I hope not the case with Abdul and he is all good and plays again soon. We have definitely missed his kicking game and creativity.

@scouseviking55 no we shouldn't be but if that's the case Coleman has handled it all horribly and caused more harm than good

So why does the club or A C make any  comment at  all other than that J A is unavailable for selection  .

Whatever the ins and outside of the situation it has been handled very badly by the club

@geoffw It's amazing the majority of posters on here, presume that if Abdull is picked then we automatically win the game. The Coach has his reasons for selecting certain players, to find out what his best 17 is. It's not an exact science. Abdull played in the losing WV side at London, shone against the mighty Goole, NWC, Hunslet, Workington, and had his best game at Oldham. I'm sure he'll be back in the team against Dewsbury, but that is Allan Coleman's call. A call we may not like, but have to respect while he is employed in the role.

(Yes, Allan Coleman & Jordan Abdull have two LL's in their name)

@pauliewalnuts sorry paulie it is a exact science it's 100% already proved we don't score enough points with Lyons/gilmore in the halves 2 seasons worth of trying has proved it

@vikingfox71 We've hardly scored 'bag fulls' with Abdull in the team either, 132 for, 104 against. +28 in those 5 games is less than 6 point wins on average, so that'll be Gilmore's fault.

@pauliewalnuts one is against London who everybody loses 30/40 points

we're not saying if abdull plays we win we're saying if we play against a decent team Lyons Gilmore won't score enough points and it's been seen year after year and abdull kicking in play gives us more opportunities

Coleman must change something and fast...I for one am not getting a season ticket next year to watch the same boring mid table medioctity of the last 4/5 seasons.

Widnes play under Coleman a boring style which with the crop of players who have been there for too long producing the same error ridden performances game after game.

JA brings some excitement/skill unpredicability.

A team with Owens,Ince,Gilmore,Lyons,Lawton all from pre Coleman but he has retained them......add Butt,Gregson and probably a couple more to ther list of mediocre going nowhere players and you quickly conclude that Widnes are not going to make any impact on the play-offs even if they get there.

Youngsters ?where are they?...not given a go?

I would rather watch a team of youngsters with possible potential, they couldn`t do any worse than the current lot, than another season like the last few hence not watching any more after season ticket runs out unless things change drastically.....St Helens is actually easier for me to watch a game.

@owl team full of youngsters like Swinton who are comprehensively beaten every game?

Or like Salford who have only won 2?

if we had a team full of youngsters you would be crying for the club to get more seasoned pros at this level

Sorry but no....................

Do you enjoy the mediocrity of the lot we have and have had?

Watching that lot is boring.

Seasoned pros?.......is that what Owens et al are............

no thanks

@owl We need a mix of seasoned pros and youngsters.
Unfortunately the pros need to be not good enough for SL and based this side of the Pennines, as they won’t want to travel from Yorkshire 4 times a week, so it limits the number of players to choose from .
I think we’ve signed a good young player in Connell, and hopefully we will see how good the other young ones are, who we’ve loaned out, before long, and maybe give them the odd game.
If you’re going to watch ST Helen’s, you could soon be complaining on their forum how bad they are , if they carry on like they have for most of this season 🙄

Well looking back for the last couple of seasons, we had young upcoming players who we never played and released - their  names escape me but I do recall Hughes, bailey, jones and about 3 others

These players need to get a game otherwise no point in signing them

stop playing the same players that never deliver and we can make some progress

onwards and upwards

Agreed but the current crop of seasoned pros?-what can they teach youngsters? They have so many built in faults and never learn....thinking the same applies to Coleman.

Think I said in another post re recruitment

Yorkshire 4 times a week,

there are four SL clubs within spitting distance and no Championship clubs near.....surley they produce enough not quite good enough for SL players or do they travel to Yorkshire?

good young player in Connell,

indeed but how many others have slipped through our fingers?

As for St Helens thier record is better than Widnes and level on points with the leaders...5 teams are on 10pts..........and they are entertaining to watch compared to Widnes atm

It`s just that things at Widnes are not improving developing call it whatever you want.........stagnating now and seemingly unlikely to change.

The events of the last couple of weeks have been a realisation of the state of affairs.

Two wins at Dewsbury and two home wins may improve things. Colemans methods? they need to produce 4 wins no excuses all are wins for a top 4 team in this league

In fact the next game they are not Favs  to win as far as I can see  is London on Aug 2nd.............win the lot and OK Coleman and his team selections will be vindicated.
