Not going to lie ... Seeing Toby Hughes is already getting carted off on loan has just confirmed what was suspected ...that last seasons debacle of signing young players to a fatten a squad and then eventually let them go one by one is off to a flier again ....
Seriously what is the actual point anymore ...lads played a bit part in a friendly...assisted in that game n he's off out on loan ...
Whose next ...sergent?? Taylor ?? Connell ?? Connelly?? .. probably all disappear and squad will be on its backside by April ...
Not being melodramatic I'd just prefer the club to take a different journey when it comes to player recruitment etc because this model 100% does not work ..
I know what you mean. However we do have a call back option. I think this is probably more likely to be Widnes helping out a fellow club that has its problems at the moment.
However I cannot recall Salford helping us out much except their owner did a bit I think when we went into administration in 2019. In the last 10 years or so they have tended to pinch our players a few times up until the last 2 years. I think Cross was the last one.
I think loans probably make more sense then what has happened in previous years where we have just let them go, however why have we signed him if we don’t think he’s good enough we already have 1 Joe Lyons we certainly don’t need another.
hopefully some good news about a fullback to come this week…
@geoffw hope so mate ....we all keep seeing comments about not repeating the same mistakes of the past and then do exactly that ... hopefully it doesn't go the way I suspect..
Think it also reinforces the suspicion the gaffer had his favourites immaterial of performance....Hughes was steady...created a try for Connolly....Lyons was Lyons ...
Result...off you pop Toby 😂
@member151 yeah that seems to have dragged on bearing in mind post match last Friday he'd hoped to have announced that player prior to the game ...
What’s the problem with it?
He’s not going to play for us this week, therefore we’ve loaned him out to another club, with a call back option.
Entirely sensible.
The problem with last seasons signing of youngsters was they couldn’t get games anywhere, hence they left. I would say loaning them out is them learning their lesson from last year.
@viking25 pretty sure we loaned out Sumner Jones and bailey and then all got released
dont see issue with getting our player minutes and experience so he will be sharper if needed.
Same as Bent and Roby at Rochdale in 2024, we cant ask for bigger squad then moan when we have one and are getting squad players minutes
I understand why he's been loaned out, but if he plays well a bottom end super club will take him on a full time contract, so is it really helping us out or is helping the player out?
As far as favourites, go I was told on good authority that Coleman has never really rated Joe, that's why he brought Patton in. Gilmore and Patton were never going to work as they are the same style of player.
Informed wrongly he rates Joe big time, he was on his way to Swinton before AC got the job here. He then stated that he was going to turn Joe into a star turn. That's why like A C should never be anywhere near our club.I understand why he's been loaned out, but if he plays well a bottom end super club will take him on a full time contract, so is it really helping us out or is helping the player out?
