I was uninspired when kear was announced as coach but the slight turn up in form gave me a false sense of positivity.

this season, similar to the last we started well and there was a good thought around the season and play off potential minus the slight boring play (other than fax at home)

but as the games progress and teams settle we just look worse than average and fall into a mid table mediocrity and it’s unacceptable considering our fan base money etc.

the club has a big rebuild ahead and it will take time but fans expect it soon which will cause further division.

not sure where we go from here

Get the feeling that in another 6 seasons we will still be debating falling crowds, inconsistent performances and baffling unbalanced squad recruitment.

Good job we already have 14 points on the board.....

Dire listening, fair play to those who went.

Surely there is a half back in an SL reserve team who we could get who is better than the current offering?!!!!

Not until everyone who was here under the Betts/Rule era has gone, the care free atmoshere is still lingering and will take years to get rid. Said it many times we should of gone bust and started from scratch at least their would of been a purpose to have a club in this town. The fans have no faith in the management coach or players and it's easy to see why. People myself included have had enough, watched them since 1966 and will not be getting another season ticket unless anything changes, the sad thing is many many more will do the same, enough is enough we have been taken for a ride with broken promises for long enough is enough.

No decent Widnes side has been without a pack. We seem to try to assemble a side to play 'classy' rugby, and most of us would like to watch that. But our packs for many seasons have been well below what is required to give any backs a fair chance.

Just cast your minds back to our best coaches Vinty, Myler, Dougie, all chose packs that were more than capable of bullying the opposition. There were some footballing forwards in there of course but there was never a game where we were going to be bullied. Teams did try but were soon sorted.

It is different today bullying is more subtle but it amounts to the same thing. Wigan, Saints, Fev even, all have muscle and power where we may have subtle skills but very little attitude. Farnworth, as a youngster would shine with others around him mixing it, but as it is he is an open target.

Lawton is a gem with great hands but no aggression. Others need to cover that aspect.

It is plain to see that big forwards are in short supply on this side of the Pennines and we need to set our stall out now ready for next year. If the club, as it seems, are looking to cover the new club criteria ready for a drive upwards in the future we need to match off field recruitment with on-field and a fearsome pack presence.

Gilmore showed what he can do at Batley with a big, rough, honest pack. That is Championship rugby. It may not thrill in 1989 fashion but we won't be laughed at!!!

You are right about the lack of aggressive forwards but I find the excuse of lack of players on this side of the pennies a lame one. Granted there are more in Yorkshire but there are also a large number of championship teams competing for that pool of players. Whereas the part time clubs competing for players in the NW are ourselves, Swinton and few league one outfits.

Interesting to see Rochdale goin dual reg with Leigh. Even Rochdale seem to be more organised that the big top brigade on Lowerhouse Lane

Big joke a bunch of wasters. They should be embarrassed. Think we should not go the games to show the board we stand no more. Holiday fudging camp. 🥖🥖 No passion from these cunts.

Tilleke and Brookes played for Hornets today; they lost but Brookes scored twice. If they can't get into this 17 they may as well stay there!

Amor, Evans and Johnson all gone from the squad- surely it can't be that hard to find replacements?

I'm not normally one for giving a coach pelters as a lot of the blame belongs to the players actions once they take to the field, but I find a couple of things baffling, both which lie solely at the feet of the coach.

Today we got pinged again for offside at a scrum, a tactic which London utilised several times last week. We don't seem to have learned anything from that. Surely the coaching team, or the players themselves should see this happening and adapt to the situation.

After the first couple surely the call should go out to either  (a) hold our ground or  (b) push at the scrum a couple of times to disrupt them and make them think twice about holding the ball in. A simple tactical change but we did neither.

The strangest thing for me is the fact that we have one of, if not the best, hookers in the league and we are playing him out of position at loose forward. We did it a few times in SL with Lloyd White playing 13, but that only works with a dominant pack, an area we seem to come second in pretty much every week.

It would be interesting to see the win/loss stats from when JJ started at hooker compared to when he plays at 13
