Definitely should of gone for a try we had momentum.I like Coleman but sometimes goes too safe and does not gamble. Shows lacked faith on us scoring Missed quality like Edge and Fozard. Centres and one more big prop we be much better. Never mind lets move on.
Scoreline flattered them.
Connell and Langtree outstanding (aside from the game breaking moment). Lawton wasn’t on for long enough. Banditt looks a player. Taking the penalties will be the big talking point. Can understand why we did it, but we had the momentum at the time of the second. Would’ve given London a big confidence boost too.
Onto the play offs.
Truly awful decision to take the second penalty kick, we had em on the back foot , we were looking really good , dominated after ht and a try and goal puts us ahead , instead take the 2 which still leaves us needing a try to take the lead and allow them to put us back on our line and keep us there with their unpenalised offside d line , a turnover layer and try to them .....a real sliding doors moment IMO
We didnt recover from the Gregson knock on just after we scored. Also the JJ knock on on their line was a momentum killer.
We lost but really enjoyed the game & atmosphere. Agree taking the 2 was a mistake & gave them a boost. We badly missed Fozzard & Edge. Lawton should have played more minutes IMO. Thought Langtree was our best player. Their forwards continually attacked with a leading shoulder that was not penalised. 20 - 10 would have been a more reflective score.
I hope the attendance is published & the RFL do not fine us for those muppets invading the pitch at the end. Knowing the RFL they will delight in punishing the club harshly.

Very much so..........very conservative but on and off the field............playing the %s I suppose but momentum is all in the modern game......needed to pressure them at that time....let them off the hook there.

Sadly crowd problems follow Widnes at every big game/occasion......the idiots come out of the woodwork and spoil the reputation of the club. Pity as image does count.

* Just back from Wire myself, and as a neutral, I'd say summat like 24-10 would've been fair.
You needed to score again when it got to 12-10, but it didn't happen, and to be frank, didn't look like it would either.
Discipline and handling not the best from either side.
The spilled ball on your line which they scored from, was both clumsy, and crucial, but their last try was from some lovely football.
From about 65 / 70 minutes, the diff between PT, and FT became very evident.
But you were far disgraced, and if we can put up a similar show at their gaff next week, I'll be turning cartwheels.
London brought far more fans than I expected 'em to do, and they defo added to the atmosphere.
Oldham away in the play-offs won't be easy for you, but it's my no means impossible.

first thing was when their 8 got done for a high tackle- penalty only and on report, should have been a yellow at least
ref obviously does not do offsides ( for both sides)
but where we blew it I think was when we went for the 2 points when we were bettering them on their own line
after that when we were 2 scores down we ran out of energy
crowd 4829 - and about 300 from the smoke !

* From a neutral's point of view, I'd disagree mate! When it happened, I said to Mackenzie "It looked clumsy rather than dirty."
** Yeah. As I mentioned earlier, a lot more than I (and a lot of others) expected.

1st penalty was okay. 2nd was mistake. Our best way of stopping them from scoring was keeping the ball in their half which we had a mot of meomentum which stopped with that second penalty
Brilliant day.
Widnes need to be in the SL, not London. 100%.
We will take 3 or 4 thousand to every game against Wire, Saints, Wigan, Leigh, Leeds etc.
All you guys, you will get an extra £50k/75k a game with us, and a better atmos.
SL, stick your Cats, Toulouse, London up your hoop, they add nothing.
The decision to go for 2 points at 12-8 down against full time opposition (At a time you had them on the ropes) is one of the worst I’ve seen in my time watching RL. Would love to know the logic - Momentum shifter.
