@scouseviking55 lol forced rotation through injuries isn't rotation

injuries to Gregson mcwhirter edge Owens meant forced rotation completely different to rotation

in the houghton etc will get fed up and we will lose players as of the last two seasons who get no game time

@vikingfox71 he’s rested majority of the back line over the last few weeks swapping them in and out.

you can’t fudging win with Widnes fans, winning 5 in a row but we must swap forwards who are doing great work because we’re worried a player might get annoyed that he can’t play. They’re not 5 years old mate this is professional sport and players have to wait for an opportunity to win their place.

He was sent out on loan to give him game time as well

@dan1 I think if we don’t need him , let him go to Salford on loan, they would have to pay a lot of his wages, and we would still have him on our books and be able to recall him, if we needed him.

@pauliewalnuts I think its the other way round, people would be surprised just how much some of these part time players are on. Wage inflation is a hot topic in the Championship with teams getting in financial trouble and talk of a salary cap.

If 1 or 2 sides start offering daft money, with agents etc it causes wage inflation in the rest of the Championship. York when in the Champ were paying really good money. Same for Featherstone until they went bump, same for Oldham. Fax couldnt sustain it, Whitehaven are on the brink, they released another statement last week saying they cant survive on current crowds. Barrow who have a very decent side asked for help funding todays extra trip to London in the cup. Then you also have London paying silly money.

Overall I think the wages have to come down with no tv deal and small crowds.

For context i was told Josh Drinkwater is on £70k a year at Oldham. He must be one of the top earners in our league.

@scouseviking55 your always so angry Scouse "calm down" it's my opinion as someone whose had a season ticket for 40 years I'm allowed one lol

coleman asked for a big squad and he's been "fortunate " his words that injuries to the backs sambou,Owens, edge etc have coincided with players returning "Coleman's words again" to make his decision easier so that's not rotation and probably we will lose Taylor , houghton etc as season wears on as no or little game time as we do every season

it's a message board not a war relax 🧘‍♂️

The lad never played a first team game for us if I remember correctly- so if he is going to play every week for Salford then I guess it is a no-brainer for him.

From our POV, I guess it leaves a little spare to go towards recruitment mid season.

Well Coleman said over a month ago, that they were still looking for a forward, just waiting for the right one. So this could go towards one, but i don’t think it will be that much, because i doubt Hughes was getting much money

@dan1 I should have said that these fill-in squad players, like the ones we've allowed to leave, are on buttons. The Clubs that try to pay big money, are the ones that are living beyond their means. With the exception of London who have 'Backers' and can afford to lay out good salaries, to enable their SL dream, I'd say apart from WV, all other Champ Clubs are in the Red. And when I say apart from WV, we are not filthy rich, we just live within our means, and stay in the Black. We don't want another 2018-19 scenario.

Paulie xx

I think paulie is right ( shock horror)

we are living within our means which is exactly what we have to do - look at last season , Lannon left as mega bucks Oldham offered him more - goodbye, if you don’t want to play for us - on your bike

@7-vikingnomad Oldham are rumoured to be paying drinkwater £70k if that's true that's ridiculous money for a club with one thousand fans

If a salary cap is implemented for the championship it will close the door on promotion/relegation and with no tv deal it means the championship clubs will be restricted even more. A championship club with aspirations of super league would need to completely change its operations from PT to FT over an off season and would be really difficult to step up. London this season are running FT and wages will reflect that

why will it close the door ?
all 3 teams that went up had to change the way they operated virtually overnight - but being a cynic I assume they were given the no£ months before

if the championship had a salary cap I think that would be a good thing

@7-vikingnomad it would level the playing field for sure which makes a more competitive league. The championship needs to have a tv deal imo

Mate there is quite a few in Super League in the red that are propped up by Sugar daddies. Salford had Koukash with loads of money, and look what happened to them mate. We all would love a Degsy or a Sugar daddy, but not one who end up leaving us in the poop. Darren Lockyer is not a London fan and he is probably only interested in building business for himself, and if he pulled the plug then London back to square one.

Being positive I feel a collective amount of business people helping, and fans also have to join WVIPs and buy merchandise to be one step of the other clubs in the league. You living in America could join WVIPs for a fiver, and streaming premium which you do. There is loads of Widnes people in Australia and every little helps to make us stronger than others in the league. We all know most players are not loyal and go to teams with money, and unfortunately this is why we missed out in the past.
