I say this every time I see this ref he is poor. He’s young, perhaps naive but he gets played by more street wise sides (which we are not). How many offsides did they have penalised? None as far as I can remember and unless they have 100m sprint champions they can’t be that fast up into our faces. It’s no coincidence that flair ups happen more often with this fella because sides get frustrated and take things into their own hands. Woeful. And before anyone says it no we weren’t much better! Flat. Rubbish ball retention and one up rugby when they’re down to 12 men is not the answer. Dust yourselves off and we go again next week.

BTW @Pauliwalnuts JO wasn’t great again at FB. Clearly at fault letting the ball bounce for their opening try. Time for a rethink and put him in centres?

Lack of guile cost us in the end- especially in the last 10-15 minutes against 12. Think we should have tapped the penalty rather than kicked it as we found it very tough to stay in their 20.

York were a horrible team to play against- we were drawn into their way of doing things.

Looking at the fixtures Fev are playing Dewsbury so they will get another 2 points- also York play both Sheffield and Fev. Featherstone host Sheffield next week too.

Despite us not playing well, it was only a lucky bounce of the ball for Yorks try, that won the game for them.

i agree we should have gone for the try rather than kicking a goal, when they were down to 12 men.

I also don’t know how the ref put the York player on report, when he was stood right over the tackle and could see what happened.

Did he put him on report twice?

At least Fev and Sheffield lost, and they play each other next week, so one of them has to lose, we’ve just got to beat Doncaster next week, which won’t be easy, especially after they hammered Batley today.

Dreadful. One man rugby with absolutely no idea by the line. I know it was a fluke of a try and two penalties but your getting beat ten nil and charging up the middle. Hope JJ is fine👍👍

JJ left the stadium on crutches, struggling. Coleman said they won't know for a day or two, until the swelling reduces, how bad/good it is.

Where abouts were you sat?  I was in line with the way it bounced, it was an attempt for a 40/20, miles away from JO, he tried to get across to the wing to prevent it, and it bounced virtually back in the direction it came from, about 10 yards over Jacks head. It was a fluke, and you could ask where was Butt.

Not making excuses for any individual player's performance, as apart from Brooks and the tackle machine Bent, all the team had a poor day. Far too many basic errors, at times a knock-onathon, and flat as a flute in attack. York were blessed with the fact they chose not to knock-on as much as us.

On we go to Doncaster, Up The Chemical Vikings!

A win is a win and a loss is a loss, you take it on the chin. I must I'm a little bit disappointed in Jack Owens form over the last few months. He starred the season off well but recently I feel he's been off form. Most of our attack comes from the midfield 3 of him, Tom, and Joe, but I feel we looked better with Roby at fullback. This need to be addressed in the off season, and my preference is for Jack to be in the centres.

I think MOM should have gone to Joe Lyons for his cover tackle saving a break-away try when their winger intercepted a cut-out pass and was clear until Joey caught him.

The referee; teams have a right to expect to be refereed to a higher standard than this man offers. His decisions can and do affect results, points go to teams not adhering to the laws of the game, players get injured and culprits go unpunished - (how Hingano got away with some of his "tackles" I will never know) - league positions could be affected.

It is not acceptable to say "Well, without him there would not be a game" and brush performances like today under the carpet. The game was not controlled in accordance with the game's laws, the second half brawl was inevitable.

He may well be a pleasant man trying his best, however he just is not good enough at present to referee a professional game.

Ah well, onwards and upwards - we can still make the play-offs. I hope Coleman has an uninjured squad to select from.

Miserable weather, miserable performance and a miserable result. Can't blame the ref for our dismal performance today, forget about it and move on.

I didn't go today unfortunately but I feel need a quality half back to give competition to Gilmore and Lyons. Plus on games seen don't have a good long kicker. I don't feel Patton will be the answer seeing comments about him at Swinton. I see a mix bag about Jack Owens, but when he played centre I feel he had a decent game. I just don't feel comfortable with him at fullback and is definitely lacking speed now. I would like to see a few big Samoan/Tongan type players in the pack. If we are not completing our sets then that is not going to help us and players need to address this quickly.

The 'lucky kick' was very similar to one that Haven scored from, We leave a gap on that wing and they cashed in. Fast defensive lines leave themselves open to the old 'chip and chase' but there aren't many good exponents of that these days!

Similarly, our 'Jubilee Bridge' passes to Ince or Butt have seen us score many tries but they are predictable and invite intercepts. Fortunately Lyons showed more pace than many credit him with and he caught their winger.

Regarding our dropped balls etc if you look at their tackling techniques they aim to  hit the ball and it obviously works, maybe something to adopt ourselves?

Just one more thought, the standing tackle where two or three tacklers keep the tackled player on his feet and drive him backwards. Usually the acting half back adds his weight to stop the movement, but why not three or more players making it into a loose maul and driving the man in possession  forward?

What a player Hingano is at this level- best I've seen all season.

One of them days, luckily this team hasn't had too many this year. We should bank another 2 wins for sure and maybe beat Tolouse.....

@relymynot

He controlled the referee tbh. There was hardly a ptb where they didn't give a nudge to the player with the ball and a knock n was the result.

Brooks did it once, blatantly, and we got the scrum!!!!

@pascal I have said it more times this season than I can remember, but if Gilmore did not kick goals I could not see him getting in the team.   He catches the pass and passes it on without making any yards nor passes to a man racing up to take a pass.   A lot of his passes are "hospital" passes to players who are not ready to collect them.

Yesterday we just wasn’t good enough, we didn’t play to the conditions and we struggled with the ball in hand york was probably offside on nearly every tackle however if the ref isn’t penalising it you’ve gotta be smart and play around them… we should’ve been quicker in defence and matched York as they seemed clueless in attack. Everyone can say Owen’s was unlucky but the fact is he isn’t a fullback and isn’t quick enough you could see in yorks warm up they was practicing 40/20’s and we was clueless to them, JO just doesn’t have the speed to cover the ground anymore. Thought JJ getting took out in defence was a farce and for York to get a penalty showed how clueless that Rush is… what happened on there red card? ( ref lost control of the game and allowed what followed to happen)
