Now you mention it I notice he never played here last year but was in the Toulouse team for their play off games just afterwards.Wishful thinking I suppose.

@begg council would never rip it up when they can continue to rent it out for private 5-a-side, 7-a-side and 11-a-side bookings.

we’ve already established they don’t really care for the clubs needs

I can't see them getting much money for that mate. I played years ago and it was really cheap, but I do see your point the Council do not care about the Rugby league club. A shame because only Rugby League has got the Town on the map. There is not much else to be proud of in the Town so the Council definitely are clueless. If Widnes was in Super league more fans and more spend at the stadium. To be honest in an ideal world get a new stadium 8 to 9k and own it. If I win 40 million I be up for it. 😂

Not sure on HBC state of finances, but a large quantity of local authorities are in dire financial stress.

Tag on what's happening globally to all finances, doubt we could fund a Nissen hut never mind a new stadium.

IIRC it was the Council who bought the decaying Naughton Park and built the DCBL Stadium for our SL team to play in.

As it stands we do not have a sugar daddy to finance these dreams of a new team or even a minimal stadium. Our only realistic hope is to get the WVIPs into four figure membership numbers to sign better players.

That just might encourage better support and even that is a 'maybe'!

It's very unusual for us to get beat convincingly since AC took over so I think whilst it is very disappointing I think we can and should regroup for Barrow.

An impact signing- either a centre or a big prop wouldn't go amiss now.

On people saying about we need to drop players- the squad size makes it harder but there will have to be some rotations IMO.

I understand that and the reason I feel a few new signings are required mate. Rotation should always be needed in the forwards but the spine usually stays similar. A prop and centre a start and Cai Taylor Wray at fullback please. Lacking some speed in the team.

Certainly some pace is required as we saw agst Doncaster......CTW was the difference on that day in the final analysis with his try, although it was Owens who made it!

Darren Wright'stry against Canberra shows what a side with pace can do......and Darren was likely our slowest back at the time!!  Thought I would post to raise spirits and spread some positivity.........Alan will know we need pace!

It's hard to know the best way forward to be fair do we follow img grading rules or do we listen to the growing rumours that Catalans are to be kicked out and London Bradford (surprise) moved to super league !
How on earth can we plan a strategy when the game can't !!

The arrangement with wire and the general situation with loan players throughout the game is absolutely a move towards what Maurice Lindsay wanted when he was trying to 'sell' SL!!!

We merge with Wire and whatever name we adopt we become their reserve team. Other SL clubs could adopt Championship partners, as they are doing now, and bingo, we are sorted!

The only problem is that Saints/Wigan/Wire etc can't honestly afford one team on the Sky package atm

I am with you mate the RFL can change the goal posts at any time. Personally quite a lot of teams are struggling in Super League with finances and may be a blessing in disguise were we are at now. There should be ambition for Super League and at the Top table as that crowd against Warrington gives you goose bumps. Someone has already mentioned getting more WVIPs members, so then can buy better players to be competitive as possible in the Championship. I would love a Sugar daddy and i have mentioned more should think of buying Pass it on Season passes for children at £35. I have bought 2 and I feel the kids are the future of this club. Plus this brings revenue to the club and possibly a few new adult fans. There is some big rich houses near Lunts Heath school and with a little luck we may find another business person to join the board at Widnes.

Anyway I am just trying to be positive as it just seems doom and gloom otherwise. 🤣 👍

Most clubs are losing money and how getting rid of Catalans helps them I don't know esp if replacing with London it makes no sense lol 😂 but that's rugby league

the championship would be better concentrate on raising its own profile trying to boost attendances working together to get away fans in and actually hold our own grand final on a neutral ground to have something to aim for or celebrate the season that would attract sponsors and viewers but waiting for crumbs of super league is pointless when the crumbs are running out

@vikingfox71

I can only think that the men with money in Championship clubs must think that SL is flush with cash!!!
