Agree absolutely diabolical and an embarrassment to the shirt. That Benty is really crap why sign 4 players from Oldham who where bottom of the league. Only 1 was decent and he fucked off to Salford 🙈

I think the board have put too much trust in FINNEY.

Do we know for sure PF is 100% responsible for player recruitment? If it is him then this current roster shows his he isn't up to it. We seem to always take the cheap opinion. The clubs get a list of players available but it looks like we have signed the ones no one else wants.

Didn't we appoint a CEO to "run the club" because the board themselves stated that they do not have the time or experience to do this ?

They assured us this appointment would bring both short term and long term success

That was over 3 years ago and here we Are, coachless, rudderless and soon to be supporterless after 3 years of abject dross

When things are bad you remove the root to solve the issue it isn't rocket science on who is running the club. How much more time will the CEO be given to drive our club into oblivion. Like stated by Anotherposter the board knew nothing about RL and put their faith and trust in our CEO. They are business men FFS and they surely know the problem so why are they not rectifying it ?.

I raised the point previously about the role that Finney is doing.

He was given the job as he was the only one left after administration. He has got Widnes at heart but is he up to being a CEO of a professional sports team (before people question me, I will admit that nor am I qualified for a CEO role but I don’t pretend to be one)

The club seems to lack direction and not just with player recruitment. To know they are going to sack a coach without speaking to potential options is mismanagement.

The recruitment is another issue. We only have one constant for the past few seasons which is Finney. One example is that last season we started the season with no hookers (Tomkins was never likely to play) so we begged and borrows players. This season we have 3 hookers and there seems to be a consensus from the 2 coaches we have had that we only ever want to play with one in the match day 17 even though when we signed Gregory he would be an impact player off the bench.

Satisfying as it may be to stab all and sundry to solve our problems it is unlikely to get us back on track without a plan to replace what we have. (Just by chance Wire don't seem to be faring much better!)

However, looking forward, assuming that we still have a club, is Kear more likely to be seen as a Director of Rugby, to re-set our establishment regarding coaching, signings and general playing matters? That would make much more sense than simply as as replacement for Simon, wouldn't require daily attendance etc.

He could give sound advice on the Coach position and steady the ship immediately just by his presence.

On the Director level Kear is one who has been involved in the game at all levels and knows it from top to bottom. He is probably a pretty good judge of people too!!!

Director of rugby come on wake up my friend, we cannot afford back room staff, we have no coach and you want a director of rugby. You would be taken more seriously if you wanted him as CEO.
