To be honest I’d be extremely underwhelmed if we came out with Kilshaw or Finnigan. No I’m not sure of the alternatives but it would just be quite underwhelming

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Whoever comes in will be a cheap option for obvious reasons.

I hope we go for the best applicant and not the cheapest. Certainly, the job advert suggested the club would pay the appropriates salary commensurate to the experience of the successful candidate on a full time or part-time contract. Maybe Simon Finnegan will be the ideal candidate – decent playing career, links to the club and reasonable coaching experience as Assistant Coach at TWP and Head Coach at Newcastle, where no doubt he has been mentored well by Denis Betts!!!! Could be an interesting week next week when presumably the new coach will be announced.

Given our current situation I wouldn't mind Finnegan being given a shot

He has an affinity for the club and was getting some good reports the last few seasons outside of that in think Rowley would be ideal for us

I would like Richard Marshall to get the job, if he has applied for it.

Again I know we are not going to get the cream of the crop but those two names inspires enough confidence as a football team appointing Tony Pulis and Alan Pardew.

We either need a coach like a (example) Neil Kelly who knows how to win in the championship I.e Henderson or Marshall or we need a left-wing type of coach who hasn’t had more of a chance at other clubs to be a head coach, I.e a Danny Orr or an Adamson

Be interesting to see whether a number 2 will come in to support whoever the coach may be. Can’t be a money issue as every other championship team has a number 2.

Now we are part time I can’t see why we can’t get a stankovic or a Stuart Spruce that could come in one or twice a week.

There has got to be a number 2, said about working with a 'multi-disciplinary' team in the advert for the job. If I was getting the job, I would expect there to be one.

In terms of the money, Tim Sheens was presumably on reasonable money. VIQI stated they were willing to help out if there was a financial issue with Sheens. So surely there is decent money there for a coach.

For me, it would be a false economy to appoint the cheapest option as the wrong appointment with a perceived lack of ambition would lead to less people getting season tickets than otherwise would have done.

It is highly likely that it will be a full 12 months between fans being able to go to a game. Some may not be missing it that much and be in two minds whether to bother. A good appointment with a bit of positivity may persuade people like that to go again when it is possible.

The job advert indicated that the Head Coach will join the existing multi-disciplinary first team staff, made up of an Assistant Coach, Analyst, Strength and Conditioning Coach, and medical staff. Presumably, the Assistant Coach will be the No 2 to the Head Coach, unless the successful candidate wants to bring in their own assistant. Does anyone know who is the current Assistant Coach?

Sean long was on Sky last night, and he was asked by Brian Carney if any other clubs apart from Leeds had been in touch with him, he said Widnes then started laughing. Not very nice of him. He obviously isn’t very keen on Widnes, apparently he said in his autobiography he was glad to leave Widnes, and they were just a stepping stone until he got a better offer.

I think SL and Sky pundits show the same disrespect of the Championship. Long needs to be careful. He is on the way up. I wonder if his attitude will change if he fails at Leeds. Will he show the same disrespect on the way down when the Championship is his only option?

Never liked him, would'nt have wanted him here anyway.Snobbery is'nt part of the game of RL. Never used to be anyway. The game was built on a foundation of mutual respect. Then came 1995 and SL.The haves and the have nots.

Earlier on I said Long would be good as an assistant/skills coach and that it would have to be in SL as a Championship club wouldn't have the budget. I just don't see him as a head coach, I may be proved wrong and time will tell. Since he retired from playing he's been assistant at Salford, Saints, Harlequins RU and now Leeds.

Too Interested in his own interests rather than the team imo. He will jump to wherever he thinks tbe grass is greener for him.

We need a more seasoned character who will act as a rallying point for players. TS looked as if he could be the man, but was time limjted anyway,so his early departure wasn't too much of a shock. Still more to come onthat ztory imo.

Depending on what SL decide tomorrow, the Toronto coaches (McDermott & Plume) could be looking a new club!

I’m not suggesting for one minute they’d be interested in coming here, but they may get jobs with other SL clubs and, in turn, displace coaches who then need to find work.

I thought that the closing date for applications has now passed. I read somewhere that Melbourne were interested in McDermott as an Assistant Coach. That club should be big enough for him.

Forget about Sean Long, a lot of his type of player/contemporaries: Wilkin/McDermott etc have little respect for us as a club IMO. But the same goes for the like of Wakefield/Leigh who are similar sized to us.

That is why it is important to get a coach who is enthusiastic about the chance to coach the club not just wanting an 12 month spell before another club beckons.
