Paul Anderson would be a good shout IMO. Yes the last season at Huddersfield wasn’t fantastic but he won the League Leaders Shield too. Wire Academy coach currently. Lee Radford I think has signed for an American RU side as a coach: incidentally Neil Kelly was over there too.

Maybe a director of rugby role mentoring a head coach could be an idea?
I would like to see Neil Kelly back at the club. He won the division with both Dewsbury and Widnes. He's still coaching at the moment with an American rugby union team and is 11 years younger then Sheens.

Good memories of the Kelly era and should always be welcome back at the club anytime.
See him more as a tracksuit coach than a more strategic DoR though.
If he has applied, should definitely be spoken to at least.
If he is now 'international' he may have moved on. He'll be on good money no doubt, but might want to come home to Covid UK .
He left his own club Dewsbury twice, last time reportedly over a lack of funding for signings, I can't see him applying unless there is a genuine chance of success and building to promotion.
My feelings are that he is an outside bet.
But, who knows?
If we are looking along the Kilshaw route then there is more than a local coach or 2 that have had similar experience that could do a job. That’s meant as no offence to the above as I’m a firm believer of people getting a chance in all walks of life.
Just depends what route the club are looking at going in / finances / and when crowds are likely back.

I think that its unlikely if we have loads of applications (which we are led to believe will be the case) the choice will come down to Kelly or Kilshaw. If it does, that would suggest that the people applying aren't of great experience or calibre.
I would be surprised if either of them were the coach come the end of the application process, but all I'm saying is if we had to make a decision between the two, it would be Kelly for me all day long.

I disagree, I think if you are a coach in RL there isn’t a lot of job vacancies in the sport and Widnes is still a name a coach would want to be associated with, if you are coach who is unlikely to get a sl gig then Widnes is the next best thing.
I agree Kelly over Kilshaw, no offence to Kilshaw but his only claim to fame is promotion and relegation to and from the championship. And for Kelly, has there ever been a manager who has been successful after 19 years since his last achievement?
If Kelly brought a throw back in terms of style and approach then I am game, as I think there’s nothing more pretentious when you hire a coach who will just play the style that every other coach applies.

Kelly was good at Widnes with only two mistakes imo. He should have sacked O'Neill for his stupid action in Aus. He shouldn't have looked to sack his Assistant to employ his brother. Other than those he got results.
As said, there aren't too many 'big' name clubs looking to sign a coach, Sheens isn't a bad bloke to take over from, provided there is a decent level of future funding support with the post its a decent option. Not many have better facilities with a gym etc on site.
Kelly ffs never laughed so much such head in the cloud fans. Henderson out of all the supposed options mentioned by a country mile. There will be no lack of candidates but as yet it's speculation as who has applied. The most important and most frightening thing is just who is interviewing and selecting ? Do we have anyone capable of performing that task ?.
Neil Kelly is not the answer. You've got to look forward rather than back, let alone 20 years back!
The game has moved on and Kelly has no achievements to speak of in the game since leaving Widnes in 2004.
Fondly remembered for getting us promoted and playing a decent brand of rugby for a few seasons but not the man to lead us into 2021.
