Two leagues of 10 is the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard.I’d rather have two leagues of 16

That will come in after two seasons of 10/10.They don’t know what they want.

2 leagues of 16 will be back to the conference system, as I recall we had a 16 team first division and a 14 team second division, with regular pr/rel

this dates back to the early seventies when there where 30 pro teams

sure spells can add more

People who watch the nrl and super league can clearly see the difference in quality on the field, for us to keep/attract the players we need to offer the money and if less money is available in the top division it weakens the game at all levels. The idea behind 2 leagues of 10 teams means more funds for 20 teams rather than the current 36 teams

I think 2 leagues of 12 teams would be a less drastic change and have a franchise system for teams who want to enter into SL2 going off ground/finance themselves for first 3 seasons/business plan etc

For Toulouse it will be about Top 10 if the new structure is implemented. They can definitely do that. As for the end of PR as we know it, if we do go to 2 leagues of 10 that will be the case next season, but surely there will be a 1 up, 1 down after that?

Two leagues of 10 is the most ridiculous thing i j have ever heard Id rather have two leagues of 16

And, these days, were would you conjure up the players to fill up the places in the 32 squads) of full time players, or the money to pay them all ?

Why is SL 2 (the championship) going to be a full time league??

Because there is no point in having two leagues if one is full time and the other isn’t. That is the situation we have now and that is what they are (allegedly) trying to fix.

that said, to be fair, you make a good point as nobody has said all 20 clubs in the set up need to be full time, at least at this stage.

There is no requirement on being full time to be in the top 20.

I’m definitely with you on that Glynn. Superleague to me has become very boring and mostly predictable, with the return of scrums next season that may change though. Without scrums it just hasn’t seem right to me.

And there is no point in being part time if you want to be in the top 20 because you will be on an absolute hiding to nothing - you will never be in the running to win things, never mind actually winning and you will have absolutely no chance of attracting any decent players. We didn’t finish up half way down the second division by accident.

So there are 12 teams in the current Super League, and let's face it a good chunk of them are absolutely reliant on Sky to keep going.

There are what 2 or 3 in the Champ that are F.T?

If/when it goes to 2 leagues the pot isn't getting shared out equally, SL2 will get miles less funding & the game will be in exactly the same position it is now, with different title for the league.

A couple of teams with wealthy backers trying to get to "the promised land" will be full time, and maybe a relegated team for 1 or 2 seasons in the hope of getting back. The rest will be part time or hybrid teams.

It sounds like the 2x 10s might be getting thrown out anyway, as Sky have decided they don't like it!

Theres barely enough  money to fund 12 SL sides never mind 20.
