As expected Toulouse have been promoted, I think this could be the end of the promotion relegation system as we know it

On the good side it costs less and takes less time to get to Featherstone than it does to geet to  Toulouse.

Wouldn't surprise me either but not bothered. Gone way past caring. Here's to a Catalans/ Toulouse Grand Final at Manchester in the near future.

Toulouse were by far the better side and well worthy of winning today's game.

Having said that, they need a drastic overhaul of their squad next season to make a dent in SL positions.

Suspect their current squad would be good enough to avoid finishing bottom but fair bit of strengthening required to make the playoffs.

For Toulouse it will be about Top 10 if the new structure is implemented. They can definitely do that.

As for the end of PR as we know it, if we do go to 2 leagues of 10 that will be the case next season, but surely there will be a 1 up, 1 down after that?

If it is 2 leagues of 10 it would be a very competitive SL 2, we would need to finish 8th next season, or will they have some kind of play off to stay up?

You would have Salford and Wakefield as favourites to join us. With the likes of Leigh, Bradford and Halifax also in the 10 it would make for a good league. I would say promotion and relegation is more likely to be maintained going forward in a SL1 and SL2 format, otherwise the names don't even make sense.

It would make for fierce competition that's for sure and if the funding for the 20 teams were reasonably in touch with each other it would be a more genuine competition.

Toulouse looked a lot more SL-ready than Fev. That said, if the SL is getting restructured, are they good enough to come 9th? Not with that squad IMO.

It will make a better comp next year with Toulouse out of the way.  Leigh/Fev will be favourites, but both with be beatable on any given day.  As for us, a trip to France replaced with a trip to Leigh, and Oldham/Swinton replaced with two trips to Cumbria.  It will be good to have all three  Cumbria sides in the same comp, although not looking forward to the extra mileage!    Also, could impact team selection for part timers if there are Monday night trips to Cumbria, or if those guys have to travel down here.   Hopefully the folk picking the TV games take that into consideration.

I won't start wondering about the 10-10 structure until it's confirmed.  I just hope that we know one way or the other before the season starts and we don't have a typical RL goalpost shift mid-season.

And, these days, were would you conjure up the players to fill up the places in the 32 squads) of full time players, or the money to pay them all ?
