We are just fans, like yourselves. It's not Mike, Sara, Kev or my place to make announcements on behalf of the Board of WVRLFC 2019.

We do glean some information that is confidential, but we didn't sign any NDA's, we are just trusted to hold our own p!ss, as sometimes loose lips sink ships. What we have done is work along with Tim, brought up some great initiatives, none more than Kev Buck, who has raised £1000's of pounds for the coffers, and got some good employment for a few of the Players.

Yes, he knows Twinny, as do I. But when, after raising money for the Club himself, see's the Board turn down substantial investment from AH, then he has seen his @rse, as did most of the Karalius Suite at the recent VV night.

I prefer to keep my powder dry. I can't speak very much, but my eyes & ears still work.

TH's efforts have been 'second to none' in improving the Gameday experience (obviously a winning team helps), he has you all interacting with his Viking Clap, Little Vinty, The Frog. He is a massive loss, I'll certainly miss him, as will Kev, Sara & Mike, and the few that work in the office.

Probably not the answers that you want, but hey ho.

Paulie xx

The question is why are they turning down this offer? and why are we so silent on it, either way it doesn’t look good for the current board with all the stuff online about Tim and also AH it’s clear to all what the fans want isn’t

100% who would turn down money to improve the club very strange. In the Mike Parsons interview Matt Roberts mentioned that investors interested from the Middle East and Australia. We need this investment and from Andy Horabin. Fans want ambition and the board have done a great job, but if any of them can not pump anymore money they should step down and just watch the games like fans. If they care so much and want the club to be successful rather than sit and do nothing. The team is progressing under Alan and Tim has to be kept on. 👍👌

@begg I think Andy makes them uneasy and nervous as he's a "put money where your mouth is" type and has stated 50k a year but current board members aren't as blessed financially and it puts them under pressure and scrutiny

sometimes things need a shake up and I think we're at that crossroads moment with horabin and holmes

no real answers of why Tim is leaving or why horabin offer not happening (at the moment)

He probably has mate but we all know money talks and as fans you want the best team possible and excitement of great players on show. Warrington, Wakefield, Leigh are just some examples of clubs with a money person helping the clubs to success. If we want more through the gates we need Super League with more away fans in games like Warrington, Saints, Wigan, Leigh and even some big Yorkshire clubs bring away support. We are slowly building with the community rugby and work in the schools. Non of us are really privy to everything but we definitely need board members to pump money in if want to progress further. If all they want to do is to sit there in Executive boxes with an ego, and no contribution they need to move on and let money people in mate. Fans can help by joining WVIPs and even I can see this team improving because the pack is bigger and faster than previous years. I would not mind Billington. 😂👍 The board have done great but to advance need big money people at the club as for me we are the biggest club in this league now.

I don't have a particular horse in the race here but I do think some of the comments made about the current board are really unfair.

This will be boring for some but for the first time in a long time we appear to have a well run club operating in a sustainable way.

  • Financially we seem to be in a healthy position (could be better obviously) but living within our means as one of the biggest clubs in the division with the constraints we have of having to rent our ground.
  • In a decent position league wise towards the top considering the money being thrown around by other teams, the London situation and the crackers way the fixtures are pulled together plus we're in a cup final for the first time in quite a few years.
  • The start of a youth setup after running without one for quite a long period.

Things could be better but I think it is unfair to make out that the current directors have just put in a few quid and are now sat about eating sandwiches in a box on gameday. From what I've read and heard on podcasts many of them are involved salary free in the day to day running giving up their own time.

Juxtaposed with that is the lure of this extra cash. I don't know anything about this guy and I don't question his motives as I honestly believes he loves the club as a fan. But what I have seen countless times is that quite often throwing money at a situation without much of a plan other than buying players never seems to work. Salford, Fev, Halifax, Crusaders, Leigh (a couple of times previous), Barrow back in the day. It always seems to be the case that when your way up involves spending money it soon becomes clear that it takes far more money than you originally thought... and there is a big question of timing and doing it at the right moment.

I want superleague rugby back and I want more investment in the club but I don't want it at the expense of the club going bust again. I want a competitive club and I want to watch my team home and away beating other teams for years to come.

There is more this club could be doing but based on where the club is now compared to a few years back, I don't doubt that they are making decisions they think is best for the club based on information they have, rather than their own egos. The perfect solutions sounds like maybe it is the two parties coming together again and seeing whether they can work together to increase spending a sustainable way.

Really good post -  Nice to see a more balanced considered view verses the negativity and intrigue that seems to be the staple on the forum of late. And no I'm not a happy clapper head in the sand 'the board and club can do no wrong' supporter. We should give credit where it is due and celebrate when we are making some progress and having some success on the field. 👍

I think Allan, his staff and the team are doing exceptional so far this season and deserve a lot of credit. The fixture run due to the cup run will challenge us but the group are certainly not put off by it and are relishing the challenge.

Attached bellow is the latest Forge Podcast featuring Allan. He discusses some big calls he has had to make to reach this point. He also discusses his recruitment strategy, what certain players bring to his team and a selection of supporters topics are discussed too.

I think the style of play the coaching staff have us playing is the best it has been in quite some time.

Whatever everyone's opinion is on the off field goings on, I think we can all agree the work on the field and the progression since the Barrow away game has been impressive. It is an exciting watch at the moment!

Bring on Hunslet hopefully in the sun!

Well according to scouses oppenent the board have turned down a lump sum and extra payments offer from horabin !! Turning down money from a fan who you already accepted on to the board once makes no sense to me as that money could be used for youth structure or keeping Tim

but it now backs them into a corner when saying were looking for investment when they turn down from someone who they've accepted from earlier? 🤷‍♂️

Obviously don't know the full craic ...but with our past history and the fact we were the only club last season to not run at a loss I think the phrase "roll the dice " shouldn't be entertained anywhere near us ...i completely get kevs point and frustration on turning down money but what's there to throw money at ? Right now the top is a closed shop ..there's no end gain so why hurl or more the point burn money ..the board in reality probably don't have the money to match what AH wants to put in and most likely feel uneasy peeing it down the drain ....next season under the new rules we'll still be in the top 3 or 4 spenders in the league...the only thing worth playing for is a pathetic amount of prize money...sadly the only way forward right now is to be prudent and run a sustainable club ...

@cumbria-viking no but you could keep staff or employ more , use it to create another role like mcwhirter in the schools , put it in the bank earn interest , buy leggies but don't turn down free money 💰, what if rules change again in 6 months you can't go back ?
take the money find a use for it , the board have put themselves under pressure with this I believe

hes not the enemy he's a fan so you cant run a sustainable club with a extra 50k a year ?! Come on mate it's nonsense
