New General manager, very good move.
What does the role involve that is different from chief exec ? Just asking.
Sounds a bit like Rolty’s old role but with a jazzed-up job title. Good to see the club (slowly) positioning itself on, and now off, the field to try and move forward rather than just trying to tread water.
I'm lucky enough to know both Rolty and Ste Roberts personally from my younger days boozing in St.Bedes Club ...both are absolute diamond fellas.
Ste has already done a lot for the club over the years... always championed us on Radio Merseyside, and went out of his way to help when we were in big trouble in the mid 90's.
And for those of us of a certain vintage, he was the club match commentator in the late 80s & early 90s when Micron Video used to film our games.
All looks like moving up to a full time playing staff again at some point.

Have to say, I got that feeling too. For the first time in an age I’m starting to think that the club has a sensible plan that they have put together and are starting to follow. With the appointment of a respected and knowledgeable coach who has actually won sytuff, the signing up of a pack leader with a winning mentality in a position where our recruitment policy has been poor for a good while and now a back room signing of a bloke who knows the game, knows what he is doing and supports Widnes….. Perhaps there is hope yet.
Yes I agree it’s a positive appointment and hopefully we will be looking at going full time in 2024 when the possible restructuring goes ahead
Very positive move by the club, good luck too Steve in his new role.
