Great win awful game and officials and we are desperate for some speed in the backs esp a centre but 2 solid wins

Our Defence was good and that helped us in the end for both the opening games but I agree attacking wise for the first 2 games we don’t look like making large metres from deep

Don’t think it’s the answer for the whole season

Well I thought it was going to be a tough close game when saw the weather and Sheffield look virtually full strength. It was a forwards weather game and Ince, Sumner and Edge will be back in the next few weeks, but we definitely need a centre like Bardsley Rowe from Warrington.

Well I thought it was a very poor game, we tried to go down the middle like they did - very little creative rugby, patten played well but still has his arguments with the ref

3 bad decisions by them mind - the first was giving the ball caught out on the ko - no way

second high tackle in first half

but not last before least was the sheff player miles offside at the end of second half

we need to play a lot better than that - I think we missed edge big time, Lloyd is solid but creates nothing

bent is a massive asset

Not a great spectacle but a solid win. We were drawn into a ‘down the middle’ arm wrestle against a bigger pack and just managed to survive due to grit and resilience. Reilly and Lannon stood out for me and Bent have it everything. Williams and Butt are decent wingers at this level but neither were given a pass of any value today. Hodgkinson looked dodgy early on but settled down in the second half and playing a second row in the centres exposed our lack of options there.

One observation: after we kicked off after their missed conversion post 80 minutes they managed to work a three on one overlap on our right side and if their player had kicked on instead of picking up and then getting tackled we could well have lost this.

I thought we fought a rearguard action throughout the match given the size of their pack.

Lots of heart and desire- thought Patton's kicking game was good.

Enjoyed the win...

With that wind and the rain it wasn't a game for fast wide passes, that make our tries.

Quite simply they tried to bully us and we wouldn't bend for them where last year we might have. The referee was poor, allowing players to wander around offside.

They use all the 'old dogs' tricks under the sun and with an inexperienced ref the got away with them.

I must say that imo we came out in the second half determined to stifle their pack and it showed the team spirit in our team when they succeeded.

A win is win and counts the same number of league points!!!!!

A great win as a Sheffield based Vikings fan on an ill judged holiday. Thought we might be 0/2 at this stage. However we are 2/0 and punching. Check results today, grit and grime will be a huge factor in sorting the pile. I know where I’d like to be!

Think we nicked one against the head today, not a bad thing to do. Lost a few at home last year we should never have lost and very satisfied after two games.

I thought there pack moved them forward into our half very easily today and through a lack of guile and some good defence we kept them at bay. The officials were not great today, for both teams, and you'll wait a long time to see a worse forward pass not given than Pattons in the second half!

P2 W2 let's keep going.

Sheffield are a proper bogey team for us so delighted to get the 2 points. Was always going to be close with the conditions. Ref poor for both sides.

this is a gutsy side under AC who will never dig in and I'll be honest I wasn't expecting any points from the first two games.

Reilly was outstanding today and Patton had a good game.

Any news on att?

I enjoyed the game. I do not agree that it was awful at all. The conditions were & as a result it greatly affected the game. We had to keep it to a short passing game in those blustery wet conditions. To be fair we cannot play too much open rugby as we do not have any players with pace to be able to do it. It was like an old fashioned 1960s match. Patton was man of the match for me. Reilly, Murray & Fozard were very very good too. I thought the young Wigan full back was good too. Our goal line defence was very good today but a more inventive side would have scored against us with all the pressure we faced.

A good start especially with the injuries we have at present & with players playing out of position. However we are drastically in need of at least two players with pace.I cannot understand why we have let Brown go to Whitehaven, the one player with pace. We cannot grind out narrow wins every week like this. The players will be soon exhausted & we will lose some as we could have done today & last week.
