Morgan’s staying

Australian forward Morgan McWhirter has signed a new one-year deal to keep him at Widnes Vikings for the 2027 season.

The 24-year-old has become a popular figure within the squad and the local community, combining his playing commitments with a role within the Vikings Sports Foundation.

He arrived part-way through last season from French side Limoux Grizzlies and has gone on to make 30 appearances, bringing energy and impact to the forward pack.

McWhirter said: “I’m stoked. It’s been something that’s been coming for a little bit of time now.

“I’m extremely grateful to the club for the opportunity to stay around for a little longer, and I’m really excited for what lies ahead.

“This club gave me an opportunity when not many others were willing to give me one, coming from France as a bit of an unknown. I want to repay them with a good couple of years of rugby

there is a lot more but just copied the first bit. For me a great signing as he makes the team come alive.👍👍🏉

Happy with keeping him for as long as we can until a SL offer comes in for himself don’t think he would move to another champ club if the door shuts but who knows
