@farnworth-viking Are you really bothered because I a'int. My team would gain nothing from this and my team comes first and foremost over any hyped up international tournament which allows you to play for any country a player chooses. If it was our stadium I can get it but means nothing to the fans.

Yes I am bothered , if you aren’t that’s fair enough, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I would like a game played here, even if Widnes Vikings don’t get any money from it. It would still be good publicity for the club at no cost to us.

I'm not losing any sleep over it but it would've been nice to stage a game and have a group of players going into the schools to promote it.

One thing I am absolutely certain of - the pitch needs removing. Looks awful. LOTS of players really hate playing on it and some have even confirmed they turned Widnes down because of it. Bounce of the ball is often a joke. No chance of any other high profile RL games and no chance of reserve football or women's football as the pitch is deemed to be not of acceptable quality even by artificial pitch standards (i.e. it's a cheap installation). Just as an aside, if you watch the matches carefully you can also quite clearly see it affects the behaviour of players - when it comes to try scoring in particular. Players are reluctant to dive on it as you would naturally.

Dreadful surface. I realise we're stuck with it while it is the decision of the council but it hampers the club in many ways. If someone ever did buy the club and the stadium, the first thing they should do is dig it up.
