Heard rumours about new investment, not the middle east etc from the q and a, but something more local.

Anyone heard similar?

It's probably the fact the Club is always open to investment, and with Tim Holmes and the return of Rolty, there appears to be fresh impetus in seeking out more investors.

I’ve seen plenty of suggestion LB could be back involved in some capacity. I genuinely think if there was some sort of serious investment support would come back in higher amounts.

we’ll stay away fans would have no excuses anymore anyway

Stay away fans won't come back till there's a noticeable change in onfield investment, while other things are improving and are very commendable it's the on field that'll get fans back....season on season we go through the motions of recruitment pattern ...we're still heavily outspent by several clubs that aren't remotely close in terms of fanbase...totally get the current model is dictated by finance and would never want a wreck less approach....fans want a bit of xfactor...3,4 or 5 of the calibre signings of abdull instead of cheap league one alternatives ...that breeds early excitement and the diehards won't return until something changes

I agree and the reason we always need new investors for better players. I do understand the control of spending as teams like Featherstone and Salford were spending far too much, which they could not afford. Be interesting how long the Oldham and Sheffield owners keep pumping money in with a low fan base. The Oldham owner was complaining about support and tried stealing Salford fans on his video. 😂🤦‍♀️

@cumbria-viking the term ‘diehard’ fan definitely cannot be referred to those staying away when we’re poor or lacking investment.

The diehard fans, if you want to use that phrase, are the 1k still buying season tickets and turning out week after week even when we are poor.

I've got a season ticket so would put myself in the 1,000 or so bracket. I would be interested to see some season ticket stats over the last 20 years. Both in terms of numbers sold and age profile. I was brought up on the side of the late 80's but was only 9 in 1989. Thats the hardcore for me as you always want to follow a winning team.

It was great to see lots of kids meeting the players on Saturday as thats the future. Interest in the game still exists in the town with the youngsters as the Hornets training is packed over the summer months.

The fact is you cant expect everyone to follow out of blind loyalty, especially with a squeeze on money and other commitments. You have to put value and entertainment in front of the target audience. Some will only watch vs Warrigton, Wigan, Saints etc thats the reality.

I think the club is doing a good job now with more setup for the younger fans and more of a presence on social media. They are trying. Investment is great but I would be cautious. It has to be for the right reasons and long term to avoid a boom and bust.

Last point this is against a backdrop of the sport as a whole really struggling and in my opinion the RFL doing an absolutely terrible job with all the chopping and changing and allowing those in charge of the top SL sides too much of a say in the running of the game. When money is tight they will naturally act in self interest, thats why you need a strong govering body with a strategic goal. Rugby League certainly doesnt have that are is far too reactive and short term.

All clubs require outside investment to some degree but totally relying on it is asking for trouble.

That is where Oldham are at in my view. They have tried the 'build it and they will come' pattern and so far at least have not seen enough support generated.

Hopefully  our re-building of the clubs roots will bear better fruit!!! We appear to have a happy dressing room and that bodes well for a start, the reaching out to youth and amateur clubs was long overdue and deserves a good response.

What is the point of investing in a Championship Club? London are nailed on for promotion in 2026, especially with changes to the IMG grading. Does anyone actually believe that there are any circumstances where London will not be promoted, short of meltdown both on the pitch and financially?

The problem lies with the poor management of the game by the RFL. Everything seems off the cuff and unplanned, starting with the increase in the size of SL and the changes to the amateur game structure.

Has any central funding been agreed yet for Clubs below SL? Do we know whether there will be further additions to SL, to 16, 18 or 20, as intimated by Beaumont and, if so over, over what timescale? Is it intended to continue with the IMG gradings for the foreseeable future to determine promotion and relegation? Is so, how will that impact on the opportunities for the likes of Widnes? Alternatively, is it intended to re-introduce promotion or relegation by performance on the pitch at some stage, or maybe even close the door once London are promoted? What is the proposed format of the Championship play-offs and also the point, if it doesn't deliver promotion, or even substantial prize money? What plans are being considered to promote the Championship in the future, possibly as part of any tv rights package? How many clubs do they envisage to be in the two leagues in 2027, based on the financial information the RFL should hold from the IMG data? Do the RFL care about the game below SL?

Finally, with most Championship Clubs attracting crowds of less than 1,000 and very little away support, is the Championship viable?

The RFL personnel being affiliated to particular clubs makes it a 'nose in the trough' situation which will end with non SL clubs disappearing or moving away somehow.

However atm our only course is to try to re-define our club and prove ourselves on the field, which won't be easy!!!

Some day someone will write a book about the decline and fall of RL!!!!

I’d say rolty will bring in some old faces and possibly some new ones for low level investment and sponsorship etc, can the club improve the match day experience without heavy investment in the playing squad

@cumbria-viking I’m hoping we can finish top 4 anything lower and we need to heavily invest in the squad and let the deadwood go
