@vikingfox71 reading this exact thread it is the problem that some people have.
So Goole and Hunslet - 2 of the weaker sides in this divison - didn’t already expose it or know it? Pretty sure they did
@scouseviking55 yes they probably did but why make it even more public rather than work at it in private or why throw abdull under the bus
it's like saying bent never breaks a tackle , Lyons doesn't create we know these things but if your going to make a example then all players get the same treatment all I'm saying is it's not good man management or great for morale
Just reviewed the origional sources.
This whole situation should not have happened in the first place....what was AC doing?
His approach is ,how can I put it,maybe honest as he sees it but not really the sort of comments he should be making.Maybe lack of media training etc. or just the way he is?
Not an AC fan myself.......the running on the pitch pre game, the way he is dressed.
OK little things but just odd for a coach.
Perhaps my mindset re the guy is really influenced by my visits to Swinton where I sat in the stand about 10m away from where he watched the game............
All I can say is that, and I wish he would prove me wrong. AC is not going to get Widnes out of mid -table mediocrity.
@owl so your opinion is skewed then because your not a fan of AC so anything that can be construed as bad your jumping on and making a silly deal out of. You’ve sort of outed yourself there
I don’t have any particular affection to AC but he stands as the only coach to get us into the playoff positions since relegation and there aren’t that many experienced options available in the championship right now, so he gets some leeway.
@scouseviking55 well this is the season to tell it's his squad 3 big rivals have left the competition so no excuses for not being in top 6 (yes playoffs is 10) so we shall see
I'd love to say we will definitely be in top 6 but I'm not sure we will
@vikingfox71 fully agree and if he fails to get top 4 for me, I’m giving some leniency on top 3 as it’s a very competitive league with some strong squads, then questions need to be asked.
what I don’t like is people clearly have an agenda or a dislike towards Alan and then just criticise anything and everything he does/says or the club does/says which is a to is environment.
A lot of people on here went extremely quiet during our 5 game winning streak but have suddenly popped up again after losing to a strong Doncaster side who sit 2nd winning 5 out of 6.
thats where my frustration comes from because they won’t give praise or be positive when we do win or so something well but jump on here when we don’t
I was talking my mate the other day as he is a season ticket holder and I just watch on streams and the odd game if not working. We are both on the fence with Alan as some of decisions are bizarre and still has not got 4 rotation props. He needs to solve this and not play backrowers in the prop position. Never had a running halfback and Lyons is not the answer. Seems a nice guy but he needs to get away from having his favorites' and pick the best players. I also do not think there is a better coach around unless pay more money and he is definitely better than Kear, Purtill and Finnigan who we have had in the past. I just think someone needs to have a chat about getting 4 props regularly in the squad, but that is just my opinion. 🤣 Lets hope we get a result at Barrow even though I am not confident of winning with just 2 props. Abdul has to play for his kicking game.
Barrow have a big pack, but not as good as Doncaster, it is Ritson that always worries me in that side.
@halfback-ragnarsson props for Barrow are Tom Walker, dont know much about him. Joe Bullock 6"5 17.5 stone ex Wigan and Warrington. Greg Richards ex Saints and Toulouse, and Harvey Makin from Wigan on a season long. So 4 big specialist props, 3 with SL experience.
They also have Ryan King Aussie loose forward who is a top Championship level player, Brad Walker at stand off and Tee Ritson on the wing who you would say will be the fastest player on the pitch. It we manage to win it will be a top victory this season.
Let’s live in hope x
Not in the team again , unless injured it's a baffling decision
@vikingfox71 To be fair we do have harder fixtures than most other clubs & the likes of Newcastle who have the easiest are likely to finish above us for one.
@owl so your opinion is skewed then because your not a fan of AC so anything that can be construed as bad your jumping on and making a silly deal out of. You’ve sort of outed yourself there

making a silly deal out of.
so you think his actions in this senario is good coaching and man management...I certainly beg to differ
@owl so your opinion is skewed then because your not a fan of AC
....errr No......just making an observation and this episode just adds to the osbservations I made when he was a Swinton and nothing he has done now at Widnes is outweighing those observations from his Swinton days.
Is he learning as a manager/coach?...........make your own mind up...........
He has been at Widnes long enough to make a difference..............has he?
@geoffw Geoff if we can't get in the top 6 it's a failure last year you had 3 big teams they've gone yes Newcastle/York will be up there but you also have lost Fev and Halifax deducted points below 6 is a complete failure
I know what you mean . If Abdull stays & is picked we should make top 6 but if not due to fixtures I go for@geoffw Geoff if we can't get in the top 6 it's a failure last year you had 3 big teams they've gone yes Newcastle/York will be up there but you also have lost Fev and Halifax deducted points below 6 is a complete failure
