It’s time now that the club look for a proper replacement, for the last however many seasons every coach we’ve ever had has never thought he’s good enough and has always been a backup option, this season for some reason we now think he’s good enough he’s played over 100 games for this club lord knows how! Does anyone remember anything of note he’s ever done? And can anyone suggest who we should get in? I personally thought dec Patton was worth a shot for a season but…

He is an amateur player standard and have never rated him. Never understand why the club keep extending his contracts as I think he is dog crunchie. 🙈

Wouldn’t even start for the hornets, honest to god by the time his 2 year contract ends he will likely be over 150 games got to be the luckiest player there has ever been he’s stole a wage. Rather have John kear on one leg play half back than him

I think the lad goes out and does his best, he obviously puts in the effort just sadly he isn’t a top championship level player. I don’t blame him, the club has consistently recruited badly from 2016 onwards. We all can see that our pack is undersized and behind a beaten pack the backs will struggle. We have lacked a true leader on the pitch. A Jules oneill or Kev brown style player who can direct the lads.

@mckviking Agreed mate, it's not his fault, it's the people who dish out the contracts. Plenty of endeavour, sadly no quality.

Not nice to single out individuals, Joe was playing for Coleman even if the coach stayed at Swinton.

@prisoner I think a lot of the frustrations aren’t necessarily about Lyons rather the lack of improvement on the departing players. Craven out, Lyons gets his jersey. The problems at the club are from top to bottom, it’s being run like a part time social club. I’m sure there is people working their hardest within but it’s like a rudderless ship at the moment.

Lyons gives his best but unfortunately should not be playing at this level. The recruitment team has been very shambolic, and I could name several players who I would not have signed. I feel the problem is frustration from fans as they keep resigning Lyons when has done nothing to justify a contract. I would love to play for Widnes but I am shite. Tilleke is another player who tries and is not good enough for the Championship. I would get rid of Jack Owens, Fleming, Tilleke, Lyons, Kirk, Bent Butt and Ant Walker too. So many signed who are shite. 🥖🥖🥖

@mckviking I was watching Jules O Neil playing for souths the othert day. With Legand of the dark old days Marty Moore on the wing (the original Arron Moule)!

Lyons & Gilmore (Championship POTY in his last season at Batley) will always look 'gash' playing behind a lightweight pack, with square pegs pushed into the front row, taking on opposition big 'middles'. Lawton and the Chapelhow twins battered the Halifax pack the other week for Oldham, all 3 could, and maybe should be here now. Only 1 person is to blame for the lack of props on the books.

In his defence, JL knows he's not a 'steller 6', but his tackling (too much for a regular 6) goes mainly un-noticed. At the end of the day, regardless of what people on here think, he's our six, and we should be getting behind the lad, instead of 'cow heeling' him, at every opportunity.

Up the Chemics!

Paulie xx

@pauliewalnuts that lad could have a million fans cheering his name and he still wouldn’t be good enough. It’s about time we stop accepting mediocre players and crunchie rugby. Everyone has sadly had enough and the 1000+ sad fans left won’t be here much longer watching the garbage we produce on the pitch.

Agree and he wasn't much better when had a better pack too. Never had a great pack for years but hasn't done much since been at Widnes.  I won't be going a game until Hamilton is gone.

I feel for Joe, I really do. If we had a squad worthy of the name, he could contribute. He's a good lad and a decent player, I don't like the personal stuff.

Was Joe any less effective than his partner at Swinton?

He is probably a lovely lad and unfortunately just not good enough. I think many a fan would love to play for Widnes. It is sport and it is a results game and if I was good enough I would play. 👍
