Widnes are expected to cut their playing budget next year and with a play-off spot looking increasingly unlikely, they have agreed a deal that allows Johnstone to depart for a Super League opportunity on a loan basis. He could now debut for the Tigers this week when they take on Leigh Leopards this Friday.
Brilliant!
He's not played well, but if we are doing this badly on this budget, heaven help us next year....
Well that's not very good news is it,already cutting costs?
Unless he has a SL release clause, which i suspect he might, this is baffling and concerning and indicative of the way the club is heading.
Seems more than a few players are unhappy at the club and wouldn't mind leaving. Time for some answers from the board and then CH
If this is true, it really is brinkmanship to risk relegation by letting a first team player go out on loan when we are three points off the bottom two and have barely enough players to put a full 17 out.
Again the silence from the Board is deafening it’s time to start coming clean about the situation the Club is in,You don’t release players when your in the middle of a relegation battle,The beginning of the end i’m sad to say.
So instead of spending money to strengthen the squad and keep fighting for a promotion place we are cutting costs and weakening our team further.
The board need to make big announcements on financial stability and aims for the rest of the season. If we need to cut costs when we have 3 players who have left or retired and only been replaced by the odd weeks loans we are in more trouble than anyone imagined. Where has the Viqi money and season ticket money gone.....certainly not on winning bonuses.
@mt we deserve to go down if that's the attitude of the club, perhaps we've got a swop player or is that too much to hope for?
fudging joke of a club I won't be putting another penny into this club. The board need to come clean they are taking the fudging piss now.
I’ll reserve judgement until it’s either confirmed or denied by the club, however if this is true, then the board are quite simply not fit for purpose and the club is in even worse excrement than what I thought!
Is this just a rumour as I can’t find any news outlets confirming it? (More wishful thinking than anything)???
The biggest mistake the board have made recently is their appointment in who to run the club.
The board are well intentioned and every decision is made with Widnes at heart, this appointment, in my view, is wrong
I’ve said on the other thread that this is madness IMHO. But is this telling us more bad news is to come if we’re offloading players?
And to think it was only a week ago Hamilton was on the radio saying the club have very much not given up on the season....and just like when the 3 previous players left we were told they'd be replaced ...both massive blatant lies ... Unfortunately it's looking increasingly likely the clubs in financial trouble again and the board just sit there saying zip...huge danger of league one rugby next season....what a total farce of a club...
Can that fat curlywurly Hamilton play prop. What a waste of money this guy is at the moment. I am fudging fuming we are short of players already and now lose another player because of his contract release to a Superleague team. We deserve to go down if this is our ambition and I rather us fudging fold as a club. Had enough of this shot every fudging season.
