Dewsbury Away

Tricky one this. The club/council not responsible for crowd allocation or refreshments. Anyone want to talk about the game? Squad looks strong again, good to see Dixon back. It’s going to be a heavy and tight pitch.

Our record there recently is not good. However Paul Sykes is 42 now so if we can keep him quiet we should get the win. They beat Batley last time out so it will not be easy. If we take our home defence away with us we should be ok.

A tough game and beat Batley who are no mugs. Dewsbury rely on dual players from Huddersfield and had 3 against Batley. These teams who rely on dual are good one week and poor another week. I am actually glad we have our own squad now and not over reliant on loans. This will be a close game and be interesting the team selection, but if a heavy pitch I use our bigger players in the forwards.

@ratboy Iirc we seem to have better luck with a short kicking game relying on our pace to beat them on the turn! Usually a rough pack so get plenty of padding on!!!!

We need Tom to be on top form with his kicking. I would assume Dixon for butt and I would use roberts instead of gregson, but doubt that happening

Yeah I think Dixon for Butt and it does seem Coleman likes Gregson. Strong squad and these players like Roby left out etc will get game time when injuries occur. On a positive at least Roby getting game time but I also think Tilleke and Bent  needs game time elsewhere.

@ratboy

Roby deserves game time in his own right never-mind as cover for injuries.

But I'm not the coach! Don't see how the players train, how they react to coaching methods, playing instructions, team ethics etc etc.

Sunny I prefer Roby in the side but unfortunately I don't pick the team. Only needs 1 or 2 injuries in the backs and Roby is playing. What I do not understand why the club always play on sentiments . My attitude play who is on form and wait for your opportunity.

How can Roby be loaned out when Flemming is doing nothing and with Gregson offering nothing and Bent cannot get in the side. Whats the use of having a fully fit squad for once and not dropping under performing players. Coleman needs to man up and do the right thing, but lets not forget this is widnes and we don't do things normal.

I think this is a relatively big game.

It’s all well and good winning at home on a fast, dry pitch. But can they turn up away from home on a narrow, heavy track? We’ve got to show we’re a different team to years gone by and can turn up away from home.

Prisoner I would love to see Flem and Gregson dropped, but it seems some players can't be dropped by Coleman. Needs some balls Coleman and pick his best side rather than his favourites face fit scenario. 🤣

Important game today, we were turned over at Dewsbury last year and were really poor. This will be a test of the new attitude in the squad, so lets hope its a good one.

Safe journey to all those on the road on such a windy day.
