I don’t know about you, but I would prefer the message board to go back to showing the time of the last reply to a thread, rather than the first as it is now.
At the moment you don’t know if there has been a reply to a thread since you last looked, and you have to click on a thread and scroll through it to find out.
Also, if there’s more than one page of replies to a thread , to be able to click on the latest page straight away, instead of clicking on page 1, then 2 etc .
I had the same issue, but if you click "recent post" in the top bar, that will show the last post in each thread.
I think it should go back to the old display, I knew where I was going then.
I don't find it as 'user friendly' as the previous board.

I like the new message board. I think it's clearer, easier to use, and I can now respond to messages. Something I gave up trying to do with the last one.

When you click on a thread, it will automatically show you the last post that you haven't read if you wait for it to load.
I'll see whether there's a setting that can be changed though.
