Board interaction with Fans

Here we are - 2.30 pm on a Saturday, a game tomorrow and yet no playing squad listed on the Club site!

Why not?  Do the Board not realise that fans want to know who is playing, or has the squad not even been selected yet?

Earlier in the season I rang the club to raise this point, Jack Owens answered the phone, we had a pleasant chat and he promised "to pass a message on." I don't doubt that he did, but like me he probably is being ignored.

Get to grips, Board, relate with and to us, the fans, talk and LISTEN to us and you may stop the leakage of support.

TALK to us, Board, and LISTEN to us - you may get some good ideas.

Sell shares in the club, for instance.

Agree or not with me, that doesn't bother me but I CARE about this Club.

I'm going back to watching the Ashes test on TV now.

Is facebook the new Fans Forum, Sinbad?

Seriously, Thanks for the information but not everyone "does" facebook. The club ought to be putting such information on it's own site first, where everyone can see it, then elsewhere if needs be.

The club is letting itself down by not listening to fans - it doesn't have to agree but it ought to listen. Some ideas may be fruitful.

My phone call mentioned deserved a reply - even one saying "sod off, you old fart, and take your season ticket with you. We intend to use Social Media and tell non-season ticket holders who don't come anyway."

Anyone reading the club site is a fan, not every facebook user is.

Again, Sinbad, thanks for trying to be helpful, much appreciated; the club can learn from you.

I think Facebook and Twitter may now take priority over websites. You don't need an account to see the club's posts.

One of the IMG categories, like them or not, is social media content, output etc, so I guess that will now take priority over more traditional means of communication. Although, I have found the club hasn't always been the best at replying- I remember emailing them a few times over the years and barely getting a reply!

Can't see why a monthly or two-monthly email could not be sent round from the Chairman or CH with an update, wouldn't be that much hassle surely?

Sunny boy a lot of IMG is Social Media requirements. Do agree the club should communicate with the fans more often like the monthly Monday fans forum to see our ideas even if a sod off. Without the fans the club won't compete or even exist, so something needs to be done. There needs to be constructive criticism than just calling them all the fun bus and hedi hi 😂😂

The shares and setting up the new scheme which is replacing VIQI are options. Have we done shares in the club to raise funds in the past? Sunny the club doing the comedy night has to praised, but I do feel a fans monthly forum or an email on the Official site to interact with fans and the community.

Do we have a good relationship with Superleague clubs locally to help us out more often with players too. 🥖🥖🥖

Sunny, the squad is listed on FB, Instagram & Twitter, and is also listed on the Club website. Apart from putting on News At Ten what do you want the Club to do?

The final training session of the week is Friday evening, players who missed last week (Owens & Fleming) had fitness tests and are in the squad. I doubt whatever 21 are listed will have any impact on Widnes fans attendance at Barrow.

Who remembers buying a programme at 5 to 3 on a Sunday, to see the teams and officials on the back page?

When I wrote the first post on this thread, PW, the squad was not on the club site but had, as evidenced by Sinbad, been on social media for some time. It is on now.

I don't know the time, expense and effort needed by the club to put the squad on it's own website at the same time as putting it on social media - is it an arduous expensive job? If not, why not do it?

I don't want it on News at Ten, never asked for it to be. I have never suggested social media is not used -  what I do want is as per my first post which if you read carefully- asks for it to be put on the club's own website at the same time as it is on social media.

You obviously don't agree with me - Fair enough, but so what? it doesn't make me wrong.

The Club isn't good at relating to, or listening to, fans. Or responding to genuine phone messages and emails.

Pascal. Yes, in a different life the club did sell shares to fans (or even anyone wanting to buy them!) but these were lost when the club went BUMP prior to the Steve O'Connor take over.

Well reading the posts I just feel Sunny just wants the board to interact more with the fans. We don't want to go bust again and have no club, and when you see Barrow in the bottom 3 expecting to beat us it is sad times. I would love a sugar daddy like Dezzy at Leigh Leopards, but if can't then the board need to try and get someone in to help finance more money for the club. It makes me wonder how much the owners have put in to Widnes Vikings, and if they can't manage to be competitive in this league why they bother? So for me the board need to communicate more with the fans with ideas, and be honest with us all.

Well hopefully something can boost us. Losing games will just mean even less season ticket holders and fans next year, and the board need to switch on to this before it is too late. 2 props and a number 6 be a start. 🥖🥖

It's a reasonable question sunny, the club should respond to questioins but in my experience they never ever reply. I have spoken to Jack before and was let down over hospitality due to no promised reply. Maybe the club could email the squad to it's members as they have no problem doing it when they want to sell something to us. This could even look good on the IMG fans interaction stuff, like you say there may be viable ideas out there but they don't seem to care. The board promised to be open and listen etc etc when they took over but it never happened. Ignore the idiots who think your point isn't valid because it is mate.

What do you want Mick,Jack Owens posting the team sheet through your letterbox ? All the info is out there online,it takes a search of less than 10 seconds. If you can find the Vikings website then you can just as easily find their social media posts. No account or log in necessary.A mountain out of a molehill.
