The council can't care about making money. Always run out of pies before half time. For the game vs Workington a few weeks ago on a hot day ran out of all soft drinks before half time so kids had nothing to drink.
Only lager available is Coors staight from the can, that is only one up from Fosters in my view. Tastes horrible and they just hand you a can, don't get how they are allowed to hand out cans in terms of health and safety either at a sports event, no other stadium does.
Rant over, good luck with the beer, but if the council ever moan about the stadium costing money, if the food and drinks is anything to go by they are literally wasting £'s profit at every home game. What else are they missing out on comercially you have to wonder.

@pascal People go the pubs and arrive just in time for the game because you cannot buy a pint of draught beer. Nobody wants to pay extortionate prices for warm bottles of crap.

I agree they should try to stock beer cold in the fridges and possibly the pubs will if sell well and all communicate as team players
@pascal They have fridges at the stadium for the soft drinks. You would think the stadium would be keen to strike up a deal due to the current limited offering.
Exactly Dan it is not difficult to even install a few extra fridges for beers. There is many problems and at least if we raise them then Paulie or Mike Parsons can mention to the club. If we want success we should all be in it together, and Leigh have shown this in Super League that it can be done.
I want to see Widnes the best team it can be and money talks for the best players.We need to be the best in this league.
I suppose there are a few issues. Apart from striking some kind of deal with the Council/Stadium Management to sell the Beer, there would also be a need to repackage the ale from a glass pint bottle to something less 'hooligan friendly'. Plastic bottles/Cans, opened by the bar staff in the concourses would probably be the way to go, but would it affect the taste of the tipple?

@pauliewalnuts plus you've got to the problem off trying to get the council to do anything productive or proactive they seem to have lost interest in stadium and have no idea how to make money ! Shame we can't buy it for a £1

In hindsight we should never have let the Council have the old Naughton Park. We were 'sold a pup' by the RFL/SLE to get into SL we had to have minimum standards, standards that Castleford still don't have or for that matter, Bradford IMHO. We should have just upgraded the old ground bit by bit, kept the social club for hospitality. We're no better off for having the present facility.

I wonder if the Council will decide to sell off the land for Housing and we look at building a 8 to 9k stadium elsewhere with owning the stadium. Build while in the process of selling it is ridiculous a 13400 stadium to maintain. York Knights stadium is sufficient at 8500k capacity and if we was Superleague that be filled against Wigan, Warrington, Saints and Leigh. The beers are a great idea and Paulie do put points across from the forum and we are all in this together to make things the best for our rugby team.
Even though some Fans moan on here, it's usually for the right reasons, they care. That's all good and well in my book, we all want 1989 again. Any ideas will be listened to, and responded to, as to why or not they can or can't be done. After recruitment, there is not a lot of lolly left for major projects, so any 'low hanging fruit' that fans can put forward to the Board, could well be worth their weight in gold.

@pauliewalnuts do what some other clubs do ...a monthly raffle once a month...£2 a pop half goes to winner half goes to club will take time to build up but some clubs really benefit from it ...monthly raffle for a hospitality seat ...weekly raffle for whatever piece of merchandise, could get a hundred entries at 2 quid for a shirt that costs 50 ...it all mounts up if you take time to put the effort in ...there's an endless list of small things that can be done that amount to larger eggs
2 things that picked up for me under Tim Holmes was match day experience and fan engagement. (Both much needed) Money helps massively yes, but in terms of off field I don't think we have anyone to really drive the club forward. Tim showed what can be achieved with positive attitude rather than money.
I liked the way the new Aussie director talked in the Bridge Sweet. We've had 2 good Aussie signings and the beer, so a positive impact already. Only so much you can do from the otherside of the world though, thats not a criticism just a fact of geography and time zones.
I feel like we are steady away, but unless something changes we will just keep plodding along and hoping the fans continue to turn up.
We need a 2nd Allan Coleman, one on the coaching side, but another one on the board. Someone with a get up and go attitude. Thats my observation anyway.
Lets hope for a good win today anyway! Should be good with plenty of away fans creating an atmosphere.
