If you looked at Barrow, they had that strike power with the likes of Ritson, we don't.

Fozard I slightly disagree with, think he is a good player but has not benefitted from the sort of rotation within a game which I think he would benefit from. If it is true that JJ is coming back then we can see MF come off the bench, which I think would be beneficial.

To be honest I personally have been more disappointed with the very experienced Half-Back pairing (albeit they were injured today), not sure they gel as a combination and we need to be more dynamic in attack next year.

Personally Smith is passed it and is just an average halfback at this level. Hopefully Smith retires and we spend on a quality younger organiser. Gilmore I think might be worth a shot unless can get an even higher quality player? Fozzard is definitely not an 80 mins player and if Jordan Johnstone comes he will benefit off the bench. Missed Lawton today, but we do need to strengthen the quality of the squad overall. If we could replace like for like it be good and 2 big Second rowers that are better than Olly Davies, and Wilde is required. They are okay for squad players and a few will need to leave, because some are not good enough to be in a top 2 Championship side. We should be aiming for at least top 4 and I only say not top 2 because we may need an investor like Leigh have mate.

@pascal signing of TG is fine but we are and have been lacking a creative half back for years.

Hopefully Kear can find one mate. 🥖🥖👍

Be interesting to see who plays half back if both Smith and Craven are injured v Featherstone as I think the signing deadline has passed: Lyons and Owens maybe?

It was reported last week that the RL have said this season clubs can still get players on loan till the end of the season from SL clubs . But only till the play offs start.

JK was interviewed before the game and talked about next season being a more even Championship and we should be looking at Top 6 or Top 4. Not unrealistic to expect that IMO.

We need more pace in the 3/4s. Agree a bit of a clear out needed but we have seen players like Liam Bent get a lot better under Kear which is a positive.

Not sure about the pace point, Ince, Dixon, Fleming and even Edge aren't slow but they hardly get any ball apart from close to the line! Our halves don't open our game wide effectively from a deep position, we have had success from kicks and speedy chase but infrequently.

That logic may not change under JK though without he gets a better service from the halves.

Since Kear has arrived, we have played better as a team and individually. It will be interesting who we will be bringing in for next year, but agree that a creative half back and a centre/wing with some speed would be useful.

I don’t think Smith has had a bad season and has shown himself to be a leader on the pitch. Maybe not a half back any more, but may be worth retaining in a player/coach capacity.

I have never been convinced that Lyons is good enough for the Championship and have been baffled by him being given a two year deal last year and picked a substitute in recent games.

Yeah I am baffled as Lyons not at this level unfortunately, but a player/coach capacity for Smith possibly. I think a creative halfback is a must next year, 2 big Second Rowers, winger and a centre. Then most of the squad retained bar a few mate. I like a strong squad and I have faith in Kear. 🥖👏👍

Think Matty smith has been good for the club. Don’t know if he’ll go round for one last lap. Tons of experience and if he wants a coaching role and gets one best of luck to him. But…. Player coach??? He seems to me to be fitter when he’s playing and gets fitter throughout the season. Good idea on paper but stepping in for the occasional game in a pivotal position, I have doubts.

Unfortunately Lyons just isn’t cut out to be at the top end at this level. Think that’s been proven time again

@gulley-sucker

The player/coach option is simply a fall back position if we are smashed with injuries. In reality he should be Asst Coach. JK sees Amor as his forward coach next year.

We then have JK plus Amor coaching the Forwards and Smithy the backs. As Bellamy says 'Perfect practice makes Perfect!' and that should be our aim so that moves work more often than not!!!!

Holroyd has been recalled from Swinton, maybe because Roberts has been given a 1 match ban.

Farnworth's ridiculous yellow card has been dealt with as No Further Action.

I suspect that extending the loan period for SL clubs is because many of them are over the salary cap and need to offload some of their contract payments!!

Back to the game, surprised nobody brought up about us taking the two when we where 8 down with time against us. A very strange decision indeed.
