I’ve noticed Gerrard is a free agent at the moment, with Leigh letting him go. With Widnes still short of props, do you think we should try and get him back here?

With him not being signed up with just 3 weeks to the start of the season, he might be willing to take a pay cut, to come back and play for us.

No thanks. Cheap or not, we don't need him - have others better than him.

but we also need numbers sunny and if he came at a decent deal I don’t think we’re in a position to turn down props

@sunny

I hope you are right.
Alex Gerrard is 30 years old and has more first grade games ''at prop'' than the whole of our squad put together.

I think it will soon be apparent. We can't be letting in the tries down the middle we did last year.

I have worries about our defence again, especially in the second half again. Especially over a full season as we inevitably pick up injuries as everybody does.

The Club may well have this covered. I don't know. But I think you are wrong to be so dismissive.

We may well have some props better than Gerrard but numbers in that area are very much an issue.

@rb Fair enough, we have differing opinions about Gerrard. I never thought of him as a "rough, tough, barnstorming" player when he was with us, nor as a demon tackler. The fact that Leigh have let him go speaks volumes!

Perhaps I am wrong, but don't think so....

Sunny boy I am happy with our squad and you know my passion mate. I looked at our 26 players and to be honest I don't think anyone is really rubbish. Grady and Farnworth to punch holes down the middle for the first 25 mins, then Dupree and Ngog come on with speed when teams tire. Boom I think top 4 is a possibility my good friend Sunny. See you in the South stand with a glass of wine and Prawn sandwiches. 👍🍺🍾

Not for me.He was nothing to write home about when he was in his mid 20s nevermind 5 years later. There's a good reason Leigh don't want him.

I would take him we need props with experience, most the props we have are unproven.

Absolutely right MG.

Even though IMHO he is only “bang average”, because of the probability of injuries, we need more props.

In our position I would definitely take him back. He never let us down & performed very well at this level. Providing of course the terms are right.

We must agree to disagree in this case, I never thought he performed "very well at this level" 'cos if he did why would Leigh let him go?

To be honest, I never thought he performed "well" for us.

Just my opinon of course.

I think the fact there were mixed views about the idea of signing him on this forum and similarly on Leigh's social media, yet he's landed another SL contract, illustrates just what a dearth of middles there is available to both SL and Championship clubs.
