Really sad news. I know Alan has been poorly for some time, but it's still not the news anyone wanted to hear.

Alan's commitment to the Club & our fans has been 2nd to none, and he will be sadly missed. He never had a bad word to say about the performances, even after some of the drubbings of recent times. He would have been hurting, like the rest of us, but he'd be walking along the bus taking bookings for the next 'drubbing', wherever that fixture was to be played.

Alan also took a bus to Wembley every year for the CC Final, taking bookings for a 2 night stay in the capital as well as just getting match tickets & the coach. It was a big responsibility to take on, and he leaves a massive pair of boots to fill.

I'm sure he'll be having a drink with Pat Price tonight, and all his other Viking/Chemic friends who've passed over the years.

Sleep well, Alan.

Goodnight, God Bless

Paulie xx

Very sad news, had know Alan for many years. Been on his coaches over the years, good times in the eighties especially, following the 'cup kings' everywhere.

God bless

Heard the news last night really sad news he will be missed both home and away by everyone! His passion for widnes and the town nothing short of amazing , his commitment on another level never missed a game despite the score line and would always be taking bookings for next week what ever the score, I think we can all agree we have lost the best widnes fan we had however he will leave behind a fantastic legacy

hopefully the south stand can be named after him just like the north with pat

The word Legend is used  too often now a days for everyday people who do the ordinary.

Alan however, was not one of these people, when times were good Alan would be there organising his away days and countless other fund raising schemes for the good of the club, when times were not so good of which there were MANY, Alan was there sacrificing his own time, money but more importantly at times his own family life and commitments, although I'm sure his family would have hated this at times they allowed him to do it and joined in with it because it was a love that made Alan happy and the man he was, it also gave them time together as family with a shared passion.

No matter how crap we were, Alan always had a positive spin on things, yes he moaned like all of us about certain players but you say a bad word about the club and by god he'd let you know his view......

Alan was and will forever be thought of as a true Widnes Legend..... and rightly so, its a deserved title for a man who dedicated everything for the love of the club.

Rest In Peace Alan.

Didn't know Alan personally, just as a long time supporter. We nodded to each other reflecting our supporter base. The same can be said for many 'old faithful' supporters!

Like Pat Price, the heart and soul of the club and the town.

Rest in peace Alan!

I didn’t know Alan well though I spoke to him a few times at matches and he struck me as one of the good guys and obviously very much Widnes through and through. RIP Alan.

Rest In Peace Alan, the club has lost one of the best servants it’s ever had. Great memories over many, many years and most f the transport was provided by Alan. Sad, sad loss.

Like many others, spent a lot of time on his coaches over the years.

I particularly remember the trip to the south of France for the "European Cup" against St. Esteve. Coaches got delayed going down to Dover and missed the ferry. Arrived at the stadium a few minutes before the final whistle 😆

Still an enjoyable weekend - got into the changing rooms with Kurt, Emosi, Joe and Jonathan to name a few. Still love the photos from that. And a good night in Lyon.

Rest well Alan.
