Don’t shout - it’s rude and unwarranted, especially when you are attempting to pass your opinion off as fact, fella.

Not shouting, just merely reiterating fact, fella 👍

Unfortunately, like Davie, it's impossible to have a reasoned conversation or debate with someone so entrenched in their own opinion.

Toodle pip 👋😊

Oh... one final thing.

I come from a vehemently left wing working class family.

I even voted Labour in the 1st 3 elections I was eligible to vote in.

Sadly, the constant "brow beating" from the left since the EU Referendum has put me off voting for any left wing party again for life...

@widneslatic Davie's points were fair and valid. It's you who closed down the debate because he has a different opinion to you. But, been here before haven't we?

How was his point "fair & valid" ...??? 🤔

Unless he had a full frontal lobotomy in 2016, it wasn't exactly hidden away as a nasty surprise, was it?

And let's not forget, over 1 million people in Scotland voted to LEAVE the EU, so not all of Scotland agrees with Davie's nationalist stance...

I suspect your family would have an opinion about your wind change.

My grandad was a Marraboner who lived in a two up, two down with his his mum and four sisters. He worked on the railway and was a staunch - and I mean staunch - not ‘swap your opinion if you don’t think you’ll get your way’ sort of fella and he was still angry 60 years later that the railwaymen “gave in” first during the Great Strike.

He was a socialist - not a weather vane turning in the wind.

My dad was a shop steward at the Stanlow oil refinery in the 1970’s and was black listed for eighteen months for participating in a strike for better working conditions and pay. My grandad thought he was soft and not a ‘proper’ Socialist. My dad (who’s 80 odd) think’s I’m not even a Socialist at all and not really worth talking to about proper politics.

Please don’t imagine that you are the only one that came from a ‘vehemently left wing working class family’ and don’t have the arrogance to take other people’s, thought out, (political) opinions lightly because you disagree.

You have a right to your opinion and to be able to express them but in joining a public forum to discuss and debate you also accept the responsibility to respect the opinion of others. That said, “I even voted labour in the first 3 elections …” did make me laugh - sounds like you expected a badge with ‘true comrade’.

Anyway, enough I’m straying way off topic on this one.

So what? The number of people in this country who seem duty bound to vote whichever way their parents/grandparents did X no. of decades ago is absolutely mind boggling to me.

People can vote (Or note) for whoever they want, and assuming they've done a bit of research on what they think is best for them (or not, to not vote for another party) then fair play. Doesn't have to sit well with their family as it should be a personal choice.

My whole thing against the 2nd referendum is that the phrase once in a generation was used. Half a dozen years or whatever it is now isn't a generation, and leaves itself open to every time there is an important vote on something it can just be voted on numerous times until it eventually goes the way of the person shouting for it. Will be interesting to see how their numbers stack up though, especially with COP and green issues.

My family do have an opinion, but that's none of their business.

I vote for who I want to vote for ...not who other people think I should vote for.

And as for your last point...

There's been plenty of times I've been pilloried on here for not being a red clone, so why have a go at me when your own kind are doing exactly the same? 🤔

Also...

Is it a prerequisite of being a Socialist, to come across as an aggressive bully? 🤔

Maybe that's the reason why you haven't been in power for so long...

Word to the wise...

You catch more flies with Honey than Vinegar... 😉👍

Well it looks like she's set a deadline of by the end of 2023 for Indyref 2 eh? Yawwwwwwn!

The Scots are British! The Welsh are British! As are those people in "our bit" across the water! We are a United Kingdom, and this fool of a woman seems intent on dis-uniting it!

We're forever hearing that "Scotland voted to remain in EC." No they didn't! Previous to that, the Scots in Indyref 1 voted to retain the Union, and the referendum was a UK one, not just for those north of Hadrian's Wall! P2, L2 on referenda for Ms Sturgeon!

I personally voted remain, and was disappointed at the outcome, but I accept(ed) the democratic result. I don't harp on with "Monton voted remain."

If there is a second vote up there (and it's nowhere near set in stone yet) I hope the Scots again see sense, as she'll be then obliged to "do an Alex Salmond" and fall on her sword!

Spelly.

Like has been said earlier, I hope the sums add up. The Independent Caledonia Utopia is all well & good, but who is going to fork out from the decreasing national purse (fossil fuels being phased out) for the many thousands on the 'Brew', the Drug Epidemic, which is worsening? NHS Scotland is more poorly managed than the English NHS, the free Uni places to Scottish nationals. Uni places that command circa £9k a year/per student, and will be given to Students from elsewhere for the Alba Pound.

There is only so much shortbread & whisky you can export. Personally, I hope Scotland gets what it votes for (if Indy2 happens) as I have a lot of friends up there. Their views are split. Good luck with that one.

Paulie xx

Say what you want about Sturgeon, she beats Johnson hands down, always has. The cringe of her calling Omicron a 'tsunami' on a Friday and him calling it a 'tidal wave' on a Sunday is the latest amateur catch-up effort of this whole pandemic. He's an absolute joke.

This whole "we'll deliver the booster by the end of December", well it's not him doing it is it? It's like me going into work and saying "hey everyone, work harder" and, when they do, me taking credit for it.

🤣 🤣 🤣 you've got to be an utter turnip to buy this guys line.

So why aren't Starmer and the opposition doing what they are supposed to being doing and oppose the Government.

The Governments plans make no sense to me but they are being forced through with the help of his friends on the opposition benches.

Whole lot of 'em Government, Opposition, Nats are rubbish.

As a Labour Party member, I am asking the same question, and have messaged my Labour MP registering my concern.

In all the yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeears that I've been a member, I've never felt so disillusioned with my party than I am at present!

I'm old enough to remember Militant Tendency, when we were unelectable, and more recently when the only Labour PM we've had (I know there was the "handover" to Brown) for a long time, took us as a country into war, and still has blood on his hands, but..........

The current administration seem to have precisely nowt about 'em, led (wrong word) by a guy who appears to have had a charisma by-pass!

I'm 73, and genuinely believe that I'll not see us in power again!

My membership renewal is due next month, so will I sign up again? Yes I will, coz I have a very strong belief in loyalty, and hope that things will change for the better, with someone, somewhere, emerging, who has the strength, and personality to show the leadership that is so sadly lacking at the moment, but.......

I won't be holding my breath!

Spelly.

The former "Human Rights" lawyer who has voted for every restriction of civil liberties, segregation, discrimination, coercion, blackmail and child abuse has ensured the party is now almost terminal

The irony is of seeing someone like Desmond Swayne having the courage to call out the bullshit, doing what Starmer should have been doing from the onset, at least your MP had the courage of her convictions
