This thread is an interesting read - quite amazing to recite the story of our government over the past few years! As the saying goes “you couldn’t script it”!

Though I’m sure opinions are split, the witch-hunt against Boris has just been pathetic. History will show that Boris was successful as PM only because no other Tory wanted the poison Brexit chalice, but then found himself negotiating a pandemic, Russian aggression and a worldwide supply and financial crisis. Look around the world, there a few democratically elected leaders who came out of Covid well!

Change will come though as it’s been 13 years since the Labour chancellor left the note saying “There’s no money left” and it’s now long forgotten. Im a Tory voter, but change is needed as the Tory party is all out of credible candidates. I do worry that Sir Kier isn’t a leader though, I see Raynor as more of a political leader though the Labour Party would never allow it. It’ll be good to see what Labour put forward as their policies though.

You are (now wavering?) a Tory voter, and I'm a Labour Party member, so our views are bound to be as dissimilar as they are of the affections for our respective RL teams, but.....

"Witch hunt" and "pathetic" was / is not the case in my opinion.

He (along with others) broke lockdown laws, and was fined for it, despite his "You must stay home" words on the Covid broadcasts with Whitty and Co.

Yeah, he "Got Brexit Done" but are we any better off for it? The Northern Ireland Protocol, queues at Dover, and airports, coz we're no longer EC members, would suggest not. I voted "Remain" and would do so again without question.

He was obliged to do summat, coz his predecessor failed, after standing in front of the most famous front door in the land with her "Brexit means Brexit" comment.

I was not (and said so on this very board) Starmer's biggest fan, but he's now gaining some credibility in my eyes, and to rock the boat with a general election only a year and a half away, would do the party no favours, so I'm happy-ish to run with him at present.

A lot can happen between now, and when Rishi "goes to the country" but................

After thirteen years, it's (past) time for a change!

A stinging night for this (apology of a) government on Thursday!

Labour won in Selby, the Lib Dems in Frome, and in Buffoon's old seat, the Tories (just) hung on!

The message is loud and clear, that after thirteen years of the Blue Brigade having residence behind the most famous front door in the land, it's time for a change, but............

I fully accept that the chance of Sunak calling a general election early, is akin to that of me buying a Pinks' season ticket, so we're stuck with this scenario until Autumn '24 at the earliest, but....................

The writing is on the wall, and their too long period in power, will soon-ish be coming to an end!

Few things worth debating.

It wasn't a Labour Chancellor who left the "no money left" note, it was a minister, not the Chancellor.

Getting Brexit done; well it wasn't really was it? Hence Sunak having to re-negotiate the NI deal. And even then, we're left with a Brexit that doesn't work.

The witch-hunt against Johnson wasn't pathetic; it's now universally accepted he lied to Parliament, the people and the monarchy. His own party have deserted him apart from Adolf Rees-Smug and the insane Dorries.

The Covid enquiry has found, and will further find, the Buffoon and his Govt guilty of mass dereliction of duty during the pandemic. But without legal blame apparently, just we'll all secretly know whose fault it was.

So, as to being the crashing success you're suggesting, I guess that's subjective. Another way of presenting that would be that he was the 2nd worst PM we've ever had, the 1st being Liz Truss, thanks to whom I probably have to work another 5 years into my 60s. Cheers Liz.

The Tory majority is huge. And these are not general election results.

But hopefully people are turning on these self-serving corrupt parasites.

I think it will take a Lib-Lab coalition, there are still millions of weirdos who support them.

Still, progress.....

Good news for Johnson fans, he's signed up to the always-embarrassing GB News. The £4.8M he rakes a year from being a massive gobshite is obviously not enough to keep Carrie in wallpaper.

As expected, the Covid enquiry is reinforcing what we all suspected. "Out of his depth", "not his skillset", this is going to continue.

The lesson learned has to be not to appoint populist chancers like Johnson to high office.

I say lesson learned but it isn't is it? There's still millions of lunatics who would back him.

The British electorate is unique. Uniquely thick as a bull's appendage.

So Braverman has gone eh? But..................

Let's be honest, it was simply a case of "when?" and not "if?" before she bit the dust, as this apology of a government lurches from one crisis to another.

Will she receive a phone call now from GB News?

There must be people other than me that think that what's going on in this Country, what has been going on in this Country for about 6 or 7 years, is absolutely mental.

It's one argument after another. One hair-brained ill-thought out wacky idea after another. One Tory-centrist versus Tory-right bun-fight after another. A new Cabinet every 6 months. The 4 most senior pillars of office (PM, Chancellor, HS, FS) treated like temporary jobs. Ministers reading from propaganda-led scripts until they're sacked and then crying "incompetence". The list goes on.

It's bizarre beyond belief.

None of these chancers have a people's mandate. One of the key Brexit arguments for leaving the EU was the removal of un-elected bureaucrats; we now have a PM that no-one elected and a FM who isn't even an MP. How can they keep a straight face?

Having to fill ministerial posts with non-MPs because every other Tom Dick and Harry has had a go, and failed. The Tory talent swamp has been drained.

We need a GE right now. The Country is an absolute joke.

How's about dealing with some of the real issues people are facing. Instead of pursuing personal legacy quests? 100% feathering their own nests, and those of their paymasters,

Love your words mate, and now the Supreme Court have asked Rishi "What's Plan B on Rwanda?"

This administration is simply not fit for purpose, and it's (past) time that the public of this United Kingdom were given their opportunity to declare it history, but..................

I seriously doubt it'll happen for a year at least!

I've always been anti-Tory, the Tory way is self-serving, self-feathering. That's fine if people are happy with the ruling class making money off workers. But the thing about these Tories are they're destructive; they're wrecking the joint for personal profit.

Since the GE in 2019, we've had 3 Prime Ministers, 5 Chancellors, 5 Home Secretaries and 4 Foreign Ministers.
