Toulouse, P5, W5, with a points diff of +185, and top of the table. My mob, P6, L6, and on -123, making us cellar dwellers, and..........

In just over twenty four hours, these two go head to head at Heywood Road, so...........

As you know only too well, I'm the eternal optimist (it's built into the Swinton DNA) but what would be a positive result tomorrow?

I don't think you'll find a single Lion who thinks we'll win, but if after eighty mins, we can hold our heads high (which certainly hasn't been the case in some games so far) I'll be happy with that.

Well, if you score any points at all it will be more than Toulouse have conceded in their last two matches!

That possibility has been mentioned more than once amongst the Lions' faithful mate!

Lions 18-66 TO XIII at Heywood Road this afternoon, and the scoreline is prob just about fair.

We were 10-0 down, but hit back to lead 12-10, and we dared to dream. They went 18-12 up, but Jonathan Ford threw out a pass almost on his own line, Mitch Cox grabbed it, split the posts to tie the scores, and we dared to dream again.

But that was as near as it got, as they dominated the contest from then on, scoring back to back tries whilst Lloyd was in the sin-bin, and at the end, we looked a tired side.

At least we scored, which is more than you and 'Haven could do, but over the eighty we were still well second best.

A trip to the Mount awaits us next week, but before that, our ladies are hosting Fryston tomorrow, so I'll pop along and have a look at the Lionesses.

The Bulldogs await us today, as we try to register our first league win of the season.

The Mount is never an easy place to go to, and we've not come away from there smiling for a few years now, but...............

Hope springs eternal that we can grab that elusive victory.

The sun is cracking the flags here, and my daughter has just phoned to invite me to a barbie at theirs when I get back.

You mob can do us a favour by beating Oldham, so.............

Come on you Chemics and Lions!

Don’t worry Spelly. You, me and everyone else taking part in BOB’s prediction table have gone for a Widnes win today - you’ll be able to enjoy your barbie this evening!

Batley 26-12 Lions at the Mount this afternoon, and it's now P8, L8 in the league for us!

Going downhill in the first half, we led 10-0, but fell to the sucker punch on about the half hour, when their guy dived in direct from dummy half right between the posts, so it was 10-6 at the interval

They scored from their first set of six in the second half to lead 12-10, then Ridyard banged over a pen to tie the scores. But from then on it was all the Bulldogs, who bossed the second period to the tune of 20-2.

You did us a favour, and thank you for that, but things are looking grim(mer) now.

Like you, there's a bit of light relief for us next week, with Wembley being (potentially) a mere 80 minutes away, but the odds of Chemics v Lions playing beneath that famous arch, must be huge to be brutally honest.

Our next league appointment is in a fortnight, when we have a visit from the Thunder.

On the brighter side, the barbie was the tops!

So the Knights await us on Sunday eh?

We've only sold 100 tickets, and with our woeful form, it's not that great of a surprise, but.........

As I said previously, it's a semi, and the prize is a spot at that little corner of Middlesex, which'll be forever Rugby League. I wish there'd have been a shed load of us there, but c'est la vie.

The bookies mustn't think we have much chance, as they have us at 5/1, whilst the hosts are 1/9, but.....

It's a free hit for us, and they've far more to lose / worry about than have we!

Come on you Lions, and also good luck to you mob at Fev.

Knights 36-22 Lions today, and like you (or as it sounded on Radio Leeds as we came home) no shortage of effort or spirit, but nowt to show for it at the end. So it's Fev v York at Wembley, and not your mob v mine.

They led 6-0, then we hit back with two tries, meaning it was 12-6 in our favour, then they equalised to make it 12-12 but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Then they scored just before, and just after the interval, which was a killer for us,

We never gave in, and if we'd played like that in a few of our league games, we wouldn't be the basement boys.

Mickey Butt registered a hat-trick for us, and he looked devastated at the end.

That was our tenth defeat on the spin, and we've not tasted victory since the Oldham cup-tie at home.

The LNER Stadium is really smart, Very impressed with it,

Newcastle at home is our next appointment, and that's a league game next Sunday.

Saw most of your game today and thought Swinton gave a very good account of themselves but York had a bit too much quality across the park. You’d have a good chance against Newcastle on that form but they will also be desperate for the two points.

I backed Swinton +26 and Widnes +18 today, so happy days - even if neither are going to Wembley. There's always next year Spelly!

Well done on the bet mate!

As a matter of interest, I tried to put on a bet at Betfred (who sponsor Rugby League) on a Swinton win, but was told "We're not taking bets on that game."

I haven't got (and defo don't want) a betting account, coz I gamble very little. I'd prefer just to do it "old style" and go in the shop. My next punt won't be till Wembley, and the one after that will be on the Grand Final, so bookies don't get fat off Spelly.

Also, as you say - There's always next year!

Thanks mate.

Yeah, Betts and Co need the points as much as we do. It won't be easy, and I doubt it'll be pretty either, but I'll settle for any sort of win!

Summat on our 'site that Stuart Littler has the full backing of the board.

Sunday is a(nother) must win game for us, or else we'll be even further adrift at the bottom than we are now.

We beat Thunder in the cup tie, but they're as desperate for points as are we, so I'm not (by far) expecting an easy ride.

Any sort of victory will do, just so we can rid ourselves of that big fat zero in the W column!

COME ON YOU LIONS!!!!!
