Been home for about an hour and a quarter, and.............
No crowd trouble mate!
The punch-up started with about forty seconds left, and at first, it was just a bit of handbags. The ref seemed to have stopped it, then all of a sudden, an all-out brawl happened! Took about five minutes to sort out, resulting in a red for both sides, but they got the resultant pen!
As for the game itself, for about half an hour, they were in front of the clock, and led 40-12 at the break. We improved a bit after the re-start, and even though we were still well second best, we didn't throw the towel in, and the 66-18 scoreline was prob about right.
So, whilst the wheelchair, and ladies' teams still have fixtures to fulfil (they both have games tomorrow) the curtain has again come down for the guys, and today at Richmond, I completed my forty-sixth consecutive season of attending every game. A record of which I'm very proud!
It's now up to the board / coach, to decide who we retain / release / sign for next term, but............
Until they / we know what format there'll be below SL, their task will be faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar from easy!

There will many Widnes RL supporters who have watched the game for more than 46 years, but, like me, have missed lots of fixtures for very good reasons.

Lionesses 38-14 Wire in the play-off semi at Ince this aft, and a final (prob at Ince again but TBC) against the Broncos now awaits in a fortnight.
The winners of that will then meet the team whoever finish bottom of SL (prob Barrow) to decide who goes into / stays in tier one next term.
They scored just before, and just after the interval, to make it 14-14, but that's as near as they got, coz we upped it a gear after that, and they didn't trouble the scorers again, as we extended our undefeated run at this level this season to thirteen games.
Prior to that at Eccles College, it finished Pinks 48-38 Lions in the wheelchair game. Our record this season with our nearest, and not so dearest now reads 3-3. A win each for the men, 2-0 to them at wheelchair, whilst on both occasions the women clashed, we stuffed 'em big style.

The game against the London Ladies now confirmed as Sunday, so I'll not be at Chemics v 'Yeds.
It won't be easy, as they were comfortably seeing off Cardiff, whist we were putting an end to Wire's season.
The prize / carrot, is a shot at SL on Sunday week, and it won't be Barrow as I predicted, coz they won at the Leythers over the weekend. So it's Leopards v Lionesses to see who remains in / goes up to the top tier.
That game will be a curtain-raiser to the SL GF at the Piedome on Sunday week, when Pies will meet the winners of this weekend's semi between Leeds and York.

Just back from Ince, where it finished Lionesses 10-28 Broncos, and no complaints, coz......
They did a professional job on us, and the scoreline does 'em no favours, meaning it's them and not us, who'll be heading to the Piedome a week today, for the opportunity to put Super League football on the rota next term.
The first time our girls have lost all campaign, which makes it all that harder to take, but they've made huge strides this season, and can be hugely proud of themselves.
So that's it on the park for us this season, and here's my personal view of the highs and lows of 2026.
Best performance? It's a toss up between Midlands at home, or Midlands away. A more than comfortable double over the Brummies. Just a pity there was the inconsistency otherwise.
Worst? Batley away. We didn't turn up at all that afternoon!
Champagne Moment? It has just got to be the hooter at the end of the game when we beat the Pinks for the first time since 1985! It was just sooooooooooooooooo sweet!
Player of the Season? Gav Rodden was consistency itself throughout, and led by example as captain.
Prospects for 2027? Who knows? Nobody outside of SL is aware of the fixture format, which must make it hugely difficult for CEOs, and / or directors, to put financial plans in place.
Of course the GF at OT awaits, for which our tickets have been booked for weeks, and whilst I don't subscribe to Premier Sports, I'll defo sign up temporarily when the World Cup is on.
This afternoon's defeat was the second of the day for me, as I got up early to tune into the Warriors bowing out of the play-offs with a second successive home reverse.
Watching the Wheelchair GF on Sky as I bash this out.
