Any news on whether the weather will cause issues on Friday? Really missing my Widnes fix

The Vikings are without six players for Friday’s clash with the Wire.

Adam Lawton (Knee) and Tom Gilmore (Hernia) are unavailable, having had off-season surgeries, with both expected to miss the first few 2-3 weeks of the season.

Danny Langtree is nearing a return from a pectoral injury suffered last season, but has been left out of the squad for Friday’s game as a precaution.

The final injury absentee is young winger, Frank Sergent, who suffered a lower leg injury in pre-season. He is now off crutches and will be back running in 1-2 weeks.

Morgan McWhirter is not included, having been allowed to return home to Australia for the festive period. He returns to the UK next week and will be available for selection ahead of our Championship opener against London.

Jordan Abdull is also unavailable this Friday as he is getting married, with the arrangements having been in place well before his signing for the club.

Six players missing with four out for start of the season!!!

A very poor squad.  

Only proper pre season friendly and we’re without our 1,6&7. 

Let’s hope the incoming full back is a world beater. 

Agree but we have a 6 in Lyons, not sure who going 6 - edge maybe and a new boy in centre ?

I thought the festive period ends at Jan 1 for most of us.Holiday camp.

We couldn't be more Mickey mouse FFS ....now have updated the squad and  added Jordan abdull to the squad ...guessing he's now not getting married or the clubs got the dates wrong 😂...and it appears by my FB that the ones that pointed out his absence have had their comments removed....

Thought I had lost the plot when I looked at squad today, with Abdul added !

I don't know what happened there.You can understand a name being omitted by mistake but it was clearly stated he was unavailable.

I wonder if they have got the weekend mixed up, I hope its not for the London game, especially with Gilmore out.

2nd option, if hes getting married on the Sat/Sunday I wonder if hes put his hand up to play? Unlikely I would say for a friendly and him being out for over 12 months.

So i'm going for option A, but very odd as it went into detail saying the wedding was booked well in advance before he signed for us!

thanks for that - good to know as Gilmore will miss a few games 

wire starting with the strong team but have a lot of reserves and academy lads they are planning to give time too.

For those that wouldn't have been able to get to the game ... Warrington are apparently going to post full coverage of the game on their YouTube channel as soon as the game ends
