As a member of Widnes ViPs I received this email from Joe Tighe asking for help in expanding the membership so I thought how about here! I’m sure there must be one or two who aren’t members and every penny goes to aiding our club and starts from as little as a fiver a month.

Hi there,

I would like to introduce myself; I am Joe Tighe the new Membership Secretary for Widnes VIPs.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support, which is gratefully appreciated.

I would also like to be so bold as to ask for your help to expand the membership from its current 230 to my vision of 1000 members. (Yes, I am an optimist, with good eyesight.)

To do this please inform your family, friends and colleagues about the workings of Widnes VIPs.

We need people to be talking positively about Widnes Vikings.

Thank you,

Joe Tighe,
Membership Secretary,
Widnes VIPs

AND SOMETHING FOR YOUR DIARY......

Come and join us for our quiz night at 7pm on 19th November 2025 at The Village Social Club.

Jay Chapelhow will be your host for the evening.

Even getting to 500 would be a huge step forward

I think if you could double the members it would make a massive difference even on £5 a month. That a loan be £1250 per month or £15000 per year extra. We know every little counts and others will do at least £10 per month which will be £30k per year, which buys a decent part time player. Personally my funds are tight at the moment and I do the minimum, but it is just an equivalent to a pint of beer at the pub. 👍  After Christmas I will definitely put more into the system for recruitment.

Martin it might be a little difficult just before Christmas but possibly come the New Year get another event on at the club and quiz. May be put across what the extra members even for as little as £5 a month could achieve for the club.

How about a VIPS season launch event at the Village in January. Get some of the players down, open to everyone. Have a quiz and prizes. Interview with Allan Coleman and a couple of the new signings. Then go round each table signing non-members up to a monthly subscription there and then. After a good night, positivity for the new season and a few beers it would give a good chance. Once you are signed up to £5 or £10 a month chances are you won't cancel.
